Great weekend at Summit Point *pics*

Had a great weekend at Summit Point and just wanted to share. if any of you have been putting off Summit Point, now is time to go. The course is great and there are a lot of sections that really show off the Evos handling and great balance.

This was my first event with the Tein-S Springs and I will say the really improved the body roll and rotation of the car. By rotation I mean the same amount of rotation is there but now you can get to it quicker. I always felt that you had to wait to long after trying to get the car to rotate on lift throttle oversteer and trailbraking.

The car felt wonderful and took 20psi like a champ all weekend (props to Big Al for giving me a safe and great tune) The Evo was one of the fastest cars in the run group but I was not one of the fastest drivers so I will need to work on my lines at Summit.

Here is a link to the pics (they are on the 2nd page):

I was at Gingerman all day Saturday in the rain! What a hoot Tien S-tech's with a Hotchkiss rear bar seem to make the car rotate very nicely.
Glad you're having all the fun you're supposed too have with the EVO
I know my first 41K miles have been all fun.

We only had rain on Sunday morning and I got on track with way too much tire pressure (41psi) in the Dunlop FM901s. Droped it to 36.5 f and 35 r with great results. Car still rotated beautifully.

The Dunlops weren't too bad in the dry and offered decent grip. They were not Advans but not bad none the less.

Glas to hear you had fun. I was so hoping to go, but had a cash fade issue a few weeks ago, and couldn't swing it.

It would have been nice to have another Evo out there. Me and the wife had the only two out there.

I also have a new found respect for ITRs

Yeah, they are fast at that track. Was .rj there? He is quick there, I think this is one of his fav's for weekend track events. Did you get a chance to see the Patriot course there? That thing will shake you loose, had a blast with my evo there.

We were at Summit running the main course. But I haven't had the chance to run the Patriot at VIR. I have only run the North and Full at VIR. North and full are a ton of fun. I can't say that I have a favorite since I love them equally.

Damn, I'm sorry I missed it. Too many personal commitments. My last track event was at Summit back in September with the Mercedes club. I hope to see you out there or down at VIR early next year! Hopefully I'll have my car fully sorted by then.

I was at summit this weekend too....

I race the red honda S2000 in Honda Challenge.... i saw your TME there. Not sure how you got that plate on it legally, but good for you.

I didn't watch any of the HPDE's.... the cars are too quiet.... was a great weekend for running hard. I ended up running a 1:23.4 during saturday's race.

Good to see you are using the Evo like it should be. I have a silver evo, but it hasn't seen a track in over a year now.

Scot - that is a very impressive time. I still have a lot to learn as this is only my third event in the Evo. I had a decent amount of seat time in my 240sx but the evo has presented a whole new learning curve. Hopefully I will get to see more of the HC racing next time I go out with NASA.

Hooligan - I agree with using the evo as it should be used. The car is just wasted when only used as a daily.

My wife was the one that was driving the TME all weekend. She had nothing but good things to say about it and from my impressions I can't imagine her being incorrect.

Scot -- 1:23.x is flying. How modded is your car and what tire? The best I could ever muster there was high 1:27s.

It was a NASA event. I was running in HPDE 2 and getting pwnd by ITRs all weekend. The yellow ITR that is behind the black VIII was equipped with a supercharged k20a. I was a tad bit faster then him in the straights but I couldn't touch him in the corners. There were some very fast drivers out there and I just got bumped up to HPDE 2 so I have a very steep learing curve.

Hey, don't feel bad, that happened to me at CMP(Carolinas Motorsport Park). I lined up on the grid behind a GT2 Porsche and a 01/02 911 Turbo on slicks, not to mention all the older 911 Turbos that were prepped for their PCA series. I felt like I was about to get pounded in my bone stock Evo. Well, that was not the case. Granted the GT2 checked out, but I was second behind him, running about 2 seconds faster than the next fastest car. I clicked one 1:52:90 , and then slowed to 1:53:10-30's. I have since gone a 1:50:45, thanks to AMS and their tuning skills and good tires and alignment. I think that is all a stock-suspended Evo can do at that track, well I did have a sway and good brake pads with braided lines. I hope this december to break into the 1:49's with coil-overs, bigger brakes, and good R compound tires. Not to mention, I am adding some power. Just waiting on my Honda to sell, then it is MOD time.
