I have been open-tracking my evo much like you for the whole year. Having a boost controller in car would be a big advantage, but at a cost of complexity and weight. If you only plan to continue to open-track, etc, then I would get one which is simple, like a Hallman(sp), simple, light and easy to install. I have found, I usually set the boost based on the day's high, and let it go. I don't run the car close to the edge either, mostly 11.8:1 on cool days, and 11.5:1 on hot. I vary between 20psi(85+degrees) and 16.5-18(28degrees at CMP) on stock turbo.

Knowing the complexity of your setup, and knowing your previous adventures and how close to the edge you like to push for performance (which is not bad, but I have to daily my Evo), I would go with something which allowed for at least 2 memory settings, and something which allows you to do dynamic tapering based on RPM, 02, or speed. This will allow you extreme flexibility in your setups. If they sell a solution which will directly integrate, then bonus, because, that is one less interface between components.

However, this is my very humble opinion.

On another note, where did you get your sump, and can you send me some very detailed pics of the location you installed it, where you hooked into the block, how you ran the lines, PLEASE.

Thanks, and happy tracking...

thankas

thanks for the info....i'll take some picture of my Accusump setup...i have to put the car back on the lift to do that....and i always have to move like 2 cars and a bunch of gokarts to do that....but i'll do it in the next day or so...i mounted it in the intercooler sprayer spot...had to grind out the lip on the frame....it justs barely fit....actually my high beam bulb poped out...i have to slide the Accusump back down and try and squeeze the bulb back in.....i mounted it vertically so i could see the guage.....but you could mount it horizontally in that area also....i didn't want to put it in the trunk...like my buddy Doug did on his NSX...but it was easy for him because his engine in in the rear.....anyways i just used braided hose tie wraped over to the oil filter where i installed a sandwich adapter between the oil filter....racers wholesale sold it all...they said the sandwich adapter was 1" but it was actually 1.5"....but i think it will be okay...i'll get some pictures for you guys.....the unit seams to work awesome and only costs $160...but all the other stuff...lines..adapter brings it to around $400.....i think if i would have done this and the computer right off the bat...i wouldn't have gone thru 2 motors....o well...live and learn...ps....http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/accusump.htm i got the 2 qt model

No problem, and take your time, the Evo is up for the winters, so I have a few days to ponder what you send.

Yeah, I have to admit, I learned a great deal about Evos reading your posts, so your mistakes, no opportunities for excellence, were helpful to alot of us.

Thanks again, the mainthing with boost, from what I have read, is don't get caught in the 'two more pounds feels good' mode. Greed is what gets you in trouble. My car right now @ 17psi at 20degrees feels stronger than it did at Roebling at 100 degrees at 20psi.

Thanks again, and I look forward to the pics....

Sounds fun. Boost is the nector of the gods......I have been very mature, so far, with my boost. However, after getting the bottom redone and the new turbo, it maybe a different story. hince, the sump....
