Finally finished the never ending project

It seemed like I would never get enough time to finish this thing off. Now I can haul my junk in style.

Its a homemade hitch from Rallytrack. You kind of have to make your own decision on what you could pull with it. I would not be afraid of 250lb of tonuge weight or even a bit more based on the design of the hitch. But considering the EVO has 0 tow rating I dont plan on going over about 100lb. As far as a wave runner it depends on what kind. One of those big 4 seaters, no. This hitch would be a class 2 which generally have a 2000lb rating, I believe.

Towing with an EVO is kinda like modding an EVO. You have to make your own descision on how far to push the envelope. If you want my personal opinion, based on personal experience with other cars, my limit would be about 1000lb with 200lb tonuge weight. While being carefull to not go very much over the 4222 GVWR of the car. This means a 1000lb trailer and 5 people are definately out of the question.

unless you got a cage in your car or something . . . it seems like a bit too much doesn't it?

my track wheels and tires seem to fit in the back seat (after you cover everything with towels and plastic of course) and the gas and the jack and all of that fit in the trunk

Seem to fit or do fit. I can get 2 in the back seat, one in front and one in the trunk. As far as hauling 15 gallons of gas in the car with me, I say to each their own.

And this is without taking into account: Jack, air bottle, folding chair, tent, tools, ice chest, etc.

Back in January, my buddy and I drove 2000 miles from Montreal, Quebec to Sebring, Florida for the PBOC Winterfest driving school/club race. You can read about our trip here: Sebring Travel Diary

Anyway, we were two people and we brought 4 wheels and tires, 4 jugs of fuel (20 liters each), a large tool box, a full-sized aluminum racing jack, a carboard box containing two fulls sets (front & rear) of Carbotech XP-9 pads, a large folding car canopy, 2 folding chairs, 2 helmets, 2 bags of clothes, a garment bag, a lap-top computer backpack, and a very large camera bag. Everything fit inside the car.

The key was completely removing the back seats. The rear seat cushion pops off in seconds: you pull the two rings and then pull up on the front edge. Removing the seat-back was just as easy: undo three bolts, pull the seatbelts off to the side, and push up from the bottom.

Once the rear seats were out, we had enough room to line up all 4 wheels/tires side-by-side in the middle of the seat. Then we strapped them to the baby seats tethers so they wouldn't move. This left enough room on each side to squeeze in our duffel bags of clothes. We put our helmets on the floor behind the front seats. Everything fit perfectly, and you could still recline the seats to take a nap!

Everything else fit in the trunk. We had to leave our huge, racing-style, quick-fill jugs at home. But the 4 generic fuel jugs fit in the trunk.

The Evo is the perfect track car!

Emre

That is a nice setup, I may try to duplicate that. I've been looking for a hitch to pull my auto-x trailer.

How does the hitch bolt up to the body? Is it easy to remove? Could you provide pictures of the underside of the car where the hitch bolts up?
