Coil-overs and Ride Height

Guys / Gals,

I just lowered my car to prep for Road Atlanta, and was wondering how low is too low? I have 245/45 tires on 17in rims, and clearance 'seems' good, but I wonder if I am too low.

I set the height at 26 in from ground to fender in the front, and 25in from ground to fender in the rear.

Thoughts?

You're probably okay on the rear but if you're looking to lower the front to give it a little more rake then another 1/4" wouldn't hurt. You can go down to 25 in. in the front and still be able to align it properly.

Check the angles of the lower control arms when the car is at rest. If the inside end of the control arm is lower than the outer end of the control arm, you've probably lowered it too far.

I've had good luck running with the lower control arms parallel to the ground.

I also would check the angle of the driveshafts. make sure they are parallel to the ground.

Thanks, I will check those this weekend. I want to leave some angle though, as this track has some elavation changes, which will exaggerate compression at some points.
