EVO Hitch to Hold Tires
EVO Hitch to Hold Tires
Hey all,
Looking for a trailer hitch to hold tires externally from an '05 MR for autocrosses, track days.
For example: www.tiretail.com they don't have Mitsu fitment, but their product is exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks

Take out the rear seat bottom and you can get 4 wheels and tires laying flat. I put 2 small rectangular containers on the floor under them with oil etc in them. Rest of stuff goes in trunk. Plenty of room as two of us have used the car at DE events 500 miles away. Also had two unmounted tires on top of the 4. Can put clothes bags on top of the tires or in the trunk. Buy a couple of plastic containers to go in trunk under the rear seat shelf.
Those tire tails seem like a great idea if you have a Miata or other car with small wheels and tires, but with an Evo you're putting over 200lbs of tongue weight on there. Plus the fact that you're stacking 255-285 series tires back there, that's pretty damn wide, you might start blocking taillights and putting a ton of torsional load on that thing.
Great idea for a small car with small rollers, for anything else, just get a little tow behind. There's a reason they don't offer those kits for everything...

Given the tongue weight, probably better off with a setup like this,.
Richard EVO, I dont know if you autocross and track a lot, but it's so much easier to do when you don't have to load crap in and out of a vehicle at home and at the track. I can just leave a trailer in the back yard when I'm done for the day

Harbor Freight had some nice fold in half, trailers that used a 4x8 piece of plywood for a deck. My roommate towed his RC51 everywhere on it with a fox body Mustang. It was only like $200 as well.

I would have done the back seat trick, but I had to haul my father's tires too. And if the wife goes with me there won't be enough room anywhere for all of her crap.
