stock struts good enough
stock struts good enough
anyone ever drop their evo after having like 30000 miles. My car is daily driven, but not hard on the streets. I do track days with my car, like once every 2 months. Like 5 -6 times a year. I do want full coilovers, but i want the ohlins and want to save for them. i got exactly 33000 miles and want to drop them with the espelir gt springs. Just want to know, how long or good are the stock struts
I've used the stock struts with Tanabe GF2100 springs for a while now. These are pretty stiff springs. Look at the sticky about on aftermarket springs for the rates. I have about 10K miles on the combo with 6 driving school weekends and 6 autocrosses. I think the car handles really well. Neutral, although I also have camber plates with -2.5 degrees in the front. That helps dial out the understeer. No problems with the shocks/struts. No leaks or obvious loss in compression/rebound, although that would be pretty hard to feel unless it got pretty bad.
The stock strut should last for a while since it went through all the durability tests etc. Unless you are feeling something different or leaking, otherwise should not be a problem for 33k miles
