I was considering signing up for Buttonwillow, until I saw your new "closed helmet" requirement. No way am I buying another helmet just to run with your group (I have never run with Speed Trial USA before).
I have run HPDE about 50 times in the last 2 years, with Speed Ventures, Racer Factory, Redline Track Events, Track Masters Racing, Open Track Racing, American Car Racing Assn., NASA, the Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic, and the SE-R Car Club. Not one of them bans open face helmets.
I think I know why you added this requirement, but I will be nice enough not to mention it here.

We found an SCCA Avisory bulletin that says that closed-face helmets are dangerous when the car is equipped with an air bag, and that open-face helmets are preferred. I sent the advisory to Speed Trials USA and the agreed to change their policy and allow open-face helmets in air bag equipped-cars.
Here's a link to the advisory:

I would like to thanks everyone who attended the event at Buttonwillow. Hope you guys had alot of track time and didn't over heat (literally!)
My brake fluid boiled and lost my brakes on Saturday.
It was 110 on Sat. and 100ish on Sun. Little bit cooler. Even went on the Karting track for a couple of laps too!
Thanks to everyone that came out and see you next time!
