Anxious for new Utah track

I'm sure this is probably a repost but it's getting close to being finished and might be worth a reminder to people. Looks like this is going to be one of the great tracks in the country. Stoked that it's basically in my back yard.http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/

RacerFactory.com may do a 2-day event there next year. Their events are Pahrump (Spring Mtn.) are always great.

Track rental pricing was announced recently, and it is astrinomical. They are looking for the kind of rental rates that Sears Point, Laguna Seca, and Calif. Speedway ROVAL command. It's ridiculous. That may be a great track, but its in the middle of nowhere. It's going to be very hard for HPDE groups to rent the track and fill it with drivers, what with the high cost and the far distance from any metroplitan area that has lots of racers.

Hey Utah has racers simmer down! Yes the track day prices went up from what they had up the first day also. That equals . But my wife works for the company so I'm hoping to get in for alot less

We are you just happy to not have to drive all the way to BFE California in the middle of "everywhere". It will be a great track, the original plans were for a low-cost bare budget course and surroundings. The plan has since changed to world-class in every form. When the area is finished completely it will be unreal. You boys will be headed out here like red-necks to NASCAR.

Let's do a little math here. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Utah is 2 million, and the population of California is 35 million. So there are over 17 times as many people in Calif., and, presumpably, 17 times as many racers. We have 7 road courses in California, plus 3 in Nevada and 1 in Arizona that are closer to us than MMP in Utah.

I don't doubt that MMP is going to be a great track. I just don't understand how on earth they expect to sell out very many days on their schedule with those high prices. I guess the fact that you can't run for several months in winter is part of the reason for the high prices. At the SoCal tracks we run year 'round.

Not only that, but tracks are being built or expanded like crazy in the Southwest. Spring Mtn. is just opening up it's expanded circuit, and Reno-Fernley will do in a few months. Both will be great, approx. 4-mile road courses. In 2007, an all new track opens in Merced, Calif. The owners of Spring Mtn. are working on plans for another track in SoCal, location to be determined. So the competition is getting stiffer too.

I've never lived near any tracks before and i'm interested in learning more. Do these tracks have listings online?
