Clutch In Rev Limiter on a 05 Evo
Clutch In Rev Limiter on a 05 Evo
I hate this thing. I'm kind of able to develop a technique to get a fair launch but is there anything from the aftermarket to get rid of it?
My weekend sport is autocross.
And yes I did a forum search.
Thanks

Yeah man!! Calm down, we will help you out. As far I Know there are two thing that you can do. One of the things is to remove this feature whenever you are doing a tunning.
The second option( this is a 5 second procedure) is to disconnect the plug of the switch that controls the 5k rev limiter fail safe. I can find you the pics in this forums but it is really easy.
Get your a$$ down where the pedals are(I hope you are a skinny MF to that is much easier), lay your back in the floor of the car and squeeze you head underneath the dashboard, You should be able to see two switches conected to the clutch pedal assembly. One of this switches is the kill start the other one is the 5k rev limiter. Simply unplugg it.
If you get unplugg the wrong one no problem, plug it back in and undo the other switch.
I know that they way I explained myself sounds like a kindergarden kid but the bottom line is that the procedure is si simple that it should not take you more than a minute.
Good luck!!
By the way, I went from consistent 2.0-2.1 60' to a consistent 1.7-1.8 60'. Definately worth the try...

Thanks,
That's what I was looking for and I'll try it.
Now I'll have to work on an explanation for when the 'Ole Lady walks into the garage, sees my two feet sticking up in the air above the driver's seat and says, "what the heck are you doing?".

There are no tuners, that I know of, that have a flash to take care of the rev limiter on the 05s and do not unplug the plug WRXtoEVO mentioned, it will cause your engine to go dangerously lean between shifts. Its been documented on the forums ....
Guess I better not mess with it then. Thanks for the info!
Only work-around seems to be to work on my launch technique which I'll be doing the next few Sundays.
I wonder what the drag racing guys do with an 05?
