STU wheels/tires?

What size wheels are people using? 17", 18", what width? I've got Rota Torques with R-compounds, but I could always sell them off and buy 18s.

And what sizes and models of tires are nationally competitive?

I've been running AS this year, but I'm toying with the idea of STU for next year. I wouldn't dive into coilovers, etc., just minor stuff like rear swaybar, camber plates, strut tower bar, etc. We don't have serious STU competition locally, but I'd like not to be outclassed if go to a divisional event.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think tires are limited to 245 width and can't have a tread rating lower than 140 ... but you can do anything with wheels as long as the tire specs are met! A lot of the fastest cars in the ST classes were using Yokohama and Falken tires ...

I've run in STU all year and have placed in he top 3 all year. I was going to run at nationals but, wasn't able to make it out. STU calls for no wider than 245 tires and no R compound tires. Although the 245 reg. is definately watched closely at the bigger events, I have seen alot of regiona guys running 255s and nobody says anything. If you are planning on running any national events, definately go with the 245s.

As far as tires are concerned, I recently purchased the new Falken RT615s in 245/45/17s and absolutely love them. Alot of the top runners use these tires. The STU national champion runs some of my regions events and he uses these on his M3.

I have these installed on my OEM Enkei's and love them

I believe it's 245 for AWD cars only. RWD vehicles can go wider.

I stand corrected, you are right, I just checked the SCCA regs. AWD are regulated to 245 RWD are regulated to 275.

Also, the Evo does come stock with 17x8s
