Thumbs up Toyo RA-1 Life

Just thought I'd share my experience with my last set of Toyo RA-1s.

255/40/17, mounted on the stock MR Wheels. I use a set of Std. EVO wheels/tires to drive back and forth to events.

I got:

240+ Autocross runs
3 track days (All @ Pocono)
1000+ Street Miles (to break the tires in)

Then 3/4 corded at the same autocross event. Agressive drivers running an A-Stock EVO MR- bone stock. It's Silver, so therefore it's faster. Actually, my fiancee, who autocrosses with me is very precise, so she doesn't wear the tires as fast as I do.

Alignment: Camber: max front (-1.7/-1.9 L-R) -1.0 rear both sides. 0 Toe all the way around.

By 200 runs and 3 track days, the tires had lost most of their grip. They were comparable to the stock Advans. I could not believe how long they lasted. I finally changed the tires due to an upcoming HDPE day @ Watkin's Glen..and rain was expected, so I didn't want to run tires that were cording. I'm sure I could have squeezed another autocross day (16+ runs among 2 drivers) if circumstances were different.

Highly recommended. Our budget could not stand to run 710s, given the number of events we do, as well as the fact that the car is driven at every event by two people.

This is exactly why I am getting these tires for next year. Good to hear they last as well as everyone says.

I don't auto-x. I would say I get a minimum of 8 HPDE track days (maybe more) on a set of RA-1s, plus a couple of thousand miles on the highway driving to and from events.

haha.

True, Jay.

I'm harder on tires than you though, since you're a lot more precise than I am
