EVO still in ESP for 06?

I went to scca.org and saw that the EVO is still listed in ESP for 06. Is this correct?

http://www.scca.com/_Filelibrary/Fil...ionsbymake.pdf

I thought that it was a done deal that the EVO would be in BSP for 06.

I did notice that boost modifications have been allowed for street prepared.

If you look in the 2006 rule book, you'll see it listed in BSP in Appendix A (P. 179).

Yes but the move to BSP also allows unlimited boost. The Evo's and STI's will be good enough to take on the vettes and M3s. It won't be as easy as taking on the Camaros and Mustangs in ESP but the cars are capable of winning BSP.

So... how much boost do you dare run? 23lbs? Race gas? It will take some serious boost raising to keep up with large displacememnt engines.

How ever much you can safely run I would assume. At this point I would hope you would be running race gas and some sort of piggy back EMS (Xede) or reflashed ECU that would allow you to store a race gas map with more boost. Also don't forget in SP you can change parts between different year EVOs, turbo upgrade anyone?
If you upgrade to a newer turbo from the 8 or at least the 10.5 hotside (possibily a EVO9 turbo) and do a full TBE, which pretty much means insta-boost, do you really think it will be an issue keeping up with the larger displacement engines?

There are a couple of BSP S2000s that are being built that are running really quickly already.

Mark Daddio has the Xede with two different maps--one for race gas and the other for regular 93 octane (he is SM). I would like to have the Xede with smart. But even used they are going for around $1000.

What coilovers are you guys using? I would like to go with the Ohlins but I am thinking of the JICs as they are a little cheaper. I would like Mueller of Road Race Engineering to do the valving and setup. Has anyone used him?

Also thinking of going with the Kumho 710s in the 275 width.

IMHO, JIC's are crap, don't waste the money. There are other options in that price range that are slightly better.

Again, IMHO, you would be better off waiting for a set of ohlins. My Ohlins have been awesome so far.
