Lap Timers / Data Loggers ???

The link looks like a good unit, but it has no in-car display. I want something that shows laps in real time inside the car, and logs data for after-event analysis.
Hope to see you on the SoCal tracks soon.

they have a pretty good demo of the analysis software (it's the real software, not a demo) and an area to post up your laps (if you want) for everyone else to see. Nobody posted up for where i am (sebring/homestead-miami), but there might be some up for you out west.
Thing that sucks so far. Antenna has a magnet base, great to stick on the roof....other than we're aluminium. I haven't used it on track yet (3 weeks away), but it picks up the satellites if it's on the rear quarter (above the back side window).
Now the only issue, is where to mount the damn thing, probably gonna have to be between the drivers right air vent, and the cluster.
take care.
I have the Ultra Lap timer as well. Used it only once as the season ended, but i liked it a lot. It's small enough that you can fit it on the dash and have a clear view.

and then every so often, peak outside, and check on the truck/trailer/car/rig. And everyone around knows what i'm up to that weekend
One thing I have learned is that you can't MAKE anyone, or CONVINCE anyone to track their car, even if they are long-time sports car enthusiats. People have to come to this addictive hobby on their own because they really want to, not because their best friends love it.
yeah, but the biggest thing is just getting them to try it once, or even getting them to come out and ride through a few laps, or a session, etc.
Most people that do it, do one of 3 things.
1. 1 time, and they're done, not for them, scared to death.
2. they had fun, wanna try it again, but have other priorities.
3. they get that cheesy grin after each run, and get outta the car and yell WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, lets do it again!

A good friend and co-worker of mine is a younger guy who recently bought a Mazda 3 and has been busily modding it himself, exhaust, suspension, etc. I talk to him all the time about my road racing hobby. He keeps saying he wants to do it, and I keep inviting him to the events I run. So far, he has never showed up. He needs to make the decision on his own. No matter how much I gush about how much fun it is, he has to come to terms with the risk, cost, etc. I respect that. And I keep EGGING HIM ON.

Or the other thing i've done to get people out, i know they're doing nothing, and i'll ask them if they're not busy to come camera man for me for like half of the day... they get there, see the sights, don't take very good pictures, but hey, they're out there

I own the Race Technology AX22. For $1,200 you get data similar to motec and you can change it from car to car.
