I'm getting ready to order my autocross tires for the season and would like to know what other people are planning on using.

From what I can tell there are 4 good choices:

The stock advans (not using them b/c they are too freaking expensive)

Falken Azenis RT-615
A lot of people in DFW use them

Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212
- I know nothing about them but have been told they are good. any comments?

Kumho ECSTA MX
I ran these last year and they seem really good.


Which one is the best?

the RT-615 is the best of the lot from what I have heard.

 

Aren't the Hankooks limited to 225?

The best tire is probably the stock advan. It has better hot temp performance than the old falkin azenis, more consistant grip than the falkins, and overall held up better.

 

To be clear: I'm only talking about Autocross. I won't be doing any track days this year. So I actually need a tire with great cold grip performance. Most of our course around here are less than 2 minutes (usually about 70 - 90 seconds).

 

Go check out the SCCA SoloII National results. That'll tell you what you need to know. But I'll save you the time...Azenis.

 

Jake, the Advan Neova Ad-07 has the best dry grip of any current ST classed tire. The 245/40/17 is a wonderull fit for the Evo. The stock Advans are great as well. The MX's are at the bottom of the list unforutnately.

The hankooks are probably the best bang for the buck. But need to be shaved for maximum efficency. The Azenis' of course are good, but they aren't any better than the Ad-07's.
