stalled
stalled
long post: sorry
on sunday my local group did their first autox of the season. i have done probably about 4-5 events with them before. i made my runs in the morning group. and got fastest time of the day (beat an elise, and a heavily modded first gen rx-7) then hung out to work the starting line during the second shift. well the second group got in three or so runs each, and it started to rain. they finished their runs on the wet track, and the morning group was offered to take some fun runs in the rain soaked course. i of course was obliged. on my second running i was pushing pretty hard with some guy i didnt know in the passenger seat filming, and i came out of right turn (last in a slalom) to a gate that was back to the left. in an attempt to step the back end out to get a better setup for the next turn i rolled hard on the throttle and did just that. problem being i came to hard with the steering wheel and came back around, full circle devouring cones, while the guy inside screamed.
once stoped the car began to stall so i reached to shut it off, but as i was turning the key it began to come back to life. but i was too late. then i went to restart and i couldnt. course workers ended up prying cones from underneath the car, and pushing me back to the end of the course, i attempted starting it 2-3 times, but was told it was flooded pretty bad ( i couldnt smell fumes but outside workers said that they could. by the time i was back to the ending of the track i was able to start, i let it idle for 10 min or so, it seemed fine, i took two more laps, and came home with no problems.
i shut the car off because we spun quickly, and hard, and i was worried for some reason i was going to lose oil pressure. should i have done differently? i know the driving mistake, and i knew it when i was running, but it was slick out, and i was trying to push harder than i shouldve. anyway, just wondering what you guys thought. i have never heard of anyone flooding their evo, and thought i would throw it out there. your .02 is appreciated. thanks.
