yea it's tricky in there especially if your going backwards . One thing I would recommend for track running is to disable your ABS, the reason I suggest this is that if you spin you can actually lock up you brakes. This allows the car to spin in a straight line and you can control the trajectory much better. If you end up backwards at any sort of significant speed with ABS a crash almost always results (especially at The Ring with armco close everywhere). Porsche Super Cup was the best example of this problem, they got rid of ABS...problem solved. ABS also has random failure occasionally, it's a bad reason to crash but it happens more often than people think.

Just food for thought and I hope you get back out there. You have all of us drooling so get in every lap you can

@T_REX02

We are with you, we have seen the damage, passing @ Wippermann.
We had our season opening Evo- Meeting every year at Carfriday and Saturday at the ring.
We were there with round about 20 Evos. Also one of our Members had an small Accident, but wasnt that bad. I realized that you are at the Army, because of Your HK- license Plate.

And yes, the ring is really dangerous for the Car, not really for the driver.
Most accidents are only damaging the car ( sometimes totaled ) but seldom the driver.

If you want to know what can be done with the rest of your car, please contact me.
Maybe one of our Members can give you an good offer for a trade or repair ( depending the real damage ).
He owns an Performance Shop in Germany which is only doing Evos´s.

Again, we can feel your Pain......

The new site is cool. Back in my day 1991 to 1994 we just had to show up and hope it was open and not snowing! I see they changed the track entrance??, it used to be where the N. Course and GP circuit merged together. Wonder why they changed that? So where exactly is the entrance now, it looks like it on the long strait? Tiergaten?

I certainly miss driving the Nordschleife! I lived in Bitburg for 4 years and drove a 1989 Integra! What a POS that was now I think of it. I basically learned to drive there; it was my first experience on a proper race circuit. What a training ground that was, took me a couple of years to get the layout down. But I really knew nothing of proper lines or where the real apex lies.

Have fun and be safe!

Hey guys.....just giving yins an update on the whole situation......basically I raped the evo of like 1700 bucks worth of parts etc. before the ins. company got ahold of it.....and well i guess my prayer to god worked and the ins. is covering the bill and the towing bill etc....and i'll basically end up making a total of like 3800 off the whole thing minus the 1800 I owe to the Nurburgring for the damage I caused....so all in all I'm not too too mad over this cause i thought my ins. was gonna fight this and drag it out....Everyone on base keeps asking me how my car is and then it's like "oh yeah i forgot" .....moment of silence....lol.....It sucks I have to end my Evo driving days now being 45 min. from the greatest track in the world....But who knows maybe i'll roll up there in a SRT-4 and do some PWNING....lol...there will be some stuff left for sale after Mike gets done whoring my stuff onto his car so i'll keep you guys posted....talk to ya later and I've enjoyed the ride

good story, glad everything worked out. Are insurance companies usually ok with this kinda thing in europe? Here in the states they are just starting to get a handle on the whole on-track incidents. Or was it pretty easy considering the nurgurburing is just a "toll road"?

actually no..... insurance companies are well aware of the ring (rental car companies too) and normally they have it in your contract (yeah the paper with all the fine print you normally throw away) that specifically states the ring is not covered and you will pay the bill....But in my case i read mine (kinda) and if I was basically drag racing, or racing where the event was timed, or caught street racing and wrecking then i wouldn't have been covered....But overall i don't even think the ins. company women i talked to even knew what the hell the nurburgring was.....lol.....all she said was "wow that was a really nice yellow car"....lol...but yeah i'm back on the prowl with Southcoast Mitsu and hopefully they can work a deal with me on a new 06 RS.....forget that power crap and sunroof, cause it doesn't stay sunny long enough here in germany for that

Wipperman is a tricky series. Looking to break into the 7 min zone eh? Must admit, I haven't seen any Evos do that on touristenfahrt days. Not that they're not capable, obviously. How many laps have you done?

Hopefully you can get a new car and get back out to the ring. Saw a nicely prepped yellow Evo 8 with German tags week before last. Caged, stripped, suspension, etc.

Love to get a ride in an Evo at the ring, so PM me once you get things sorted out.
