I bought a new turbo from FP. I might have considered the upgrade but downtime was an issue and it was not available when I got mine.

As far as adding the FP to a IX... It was a significant improvement over my VIII turbo with the 9.8 housing. I am not sure it would be worth as much to you -- maybe 15 whp. That is a lot to spend for negligible gains.

It might be worth it if you were really trying to look stock as externally it is a IX turbo

That's what I would expect too, but I'm trying to figure out how to explain the freak that is my car.

Stock cams. Stock 9.8 cm^2 turbo. Same dyno/day as JTBs 20G chart. Peak power at 7200!

I think it's because you don't have cams. The cams really increase flow though the engine meaning you don't run out of turbo as quickly as you would with cams so you peak at a higher RPM. My car (w/264i and 272e) peaks at 6100rpms (305hp) and peaks torque wise at 4000rpms (320lbft) and it has over 300lbft from 3900-5300rpms and over 290whp from 4900-6800rpms. BTW that dyno run was done before I "fixed" the cam gears for about a 400rpm reduction in spool time so it's even torquier now

I'm cramming a lot of boost into the car to run the torque up as high as possible but by the upper RPMs the boost has dropped from a peak of 27psi down to 15 or so thanks to the thin air and the extra airflow of the cams.

I like it for a daily driver the car has lots of usable torque which suits my short-shifting (though quickish ) road driving style.

I'm planing on going with FP green and E85. I'm shooting for 380 whp and about the same torque. Right now I'm at 310 whp and 295 wtq. with 105K miles.
This is with stock VIII turbo and the following mods:
B&B full catback exaust with cat delete
Ebay 02 Housing and headers
HKS 264 cams
Apexi SAFC II, AVC-R
K&N drop in filter

You don't state what other mods you already have. A big turbo kit should be your LAST mod, not your first.

I have a 3076.

Back from the dead!

Has anyone tested various cams with their 20gLT? I have HKS 264/264 and after some research, I wonder if I would be better with GSC S1's or HKS 272/272 as I spend a lot of time high in 4th and 5th and wonder what I'm missing out on today.

I was one of the first with the 20gLT so tuners experience was limited when I installed.

TIA for your ideas...

Wow I didnt see this thread till today. Fp green workes really well with 272's and a lil race gas. I still have not maxed it out but will do this summer on c16 and 32 psi, but here's my dyno graph from back then on 104 oct and 26 psi.
