RallyCross Contingencies and Schedule Announced
SCCA Staff Writers

RallyCross competitors will enjoy their first contingency programs in 2007 (Don Castle image).
TOPEKA, Kan. (March 7, 2007) – With dates now set for the 2007 RallyCross season, Sports Car Club of America is pleased to announce the program’s first contingency sponsors.

Hankook Tire, Kumho Tires, Subaru, Team Dynamics and Volkswagen have all signed on to be inaugural RallyCross contingency sponsors. Kumho Tires, Subaru and Volkswagen all have cash prizes up for grabs to podium finishers at each event, while Hankook and Team Dynamics will reward their drivers with product certificates. Kumho Tires and Subaru will both up the ante for the RallyCross National Championship by more than doubling awards for their programs.

To be eligible for contingency prizes, each competitor must complete a registration form available on SCCA.com and follow the requirements for each program in which they compete. RallyCross competitors should check the Website throughout the year for additional contingency programs that may be added at a later date.

Although the 2007 RallyCross schedule has not yet been finalized, five dates have been confirmed. The Eastern States Championship starts the season with the Southeast Divisional RX on April 1 in Lebanon, Tenn., followed by dates in the Washington D.C. region and Fowlerville, Mich. The Western States Championship will begin Sept. 22 in Jean, Nev., with more dates to be announced shortly. Dates for the Central States Championship will also be announced soon.

The RallyCross National Championship will once again be held at Motorsports Park Hastings, Oct. 26-28, in Hastings, Neb. However, with the addition of the points championship, this year preferential grid position will be given to point leaders.

Just to be clear, I have no involvement in the contingency programs, I just posted up the info from SCCA.com.
