I would do it even if your Evo is brand new. I changed mine after 5k and there was metal shavings everywhere and the fluid was nasty.

Yeah, I changed my transfer case at 3k miles and found the same. I'm up near 11k now so I think I might as well.

Damn, sorry to hear that...You guys might still be fine though. People cancel all the time and spots invariably open up.

You should flush your t-case every 5-6K miles. Basically, with every 2nd oil change. That's what the guys in Europe do, and none of them have the t-case complaints we see so often on the US forums. Of course, those guys don't dragrace much at all.
