Question Pad questions

How many of you guys switch to race only pads when you do an HPDE???? I need new pads and i was thinking of buying a set for the street and a set for the track (at least the fronts).

I do....it takes no time at all to switch out pads.

My track pads aren't streetable, and my street pads aren't trackable, so.....

Eventually, you will reach this point in your 'track career'. I recently reached this point. You can cautiously drive on a lot of track-only pads to/from the track. Most will squeal very very loud though, but setup time at the track is pretty tight for most of us!

I personally don't have enough time to change tires and pads in the morning.

I change pads the night before and change my wheels at the track.

The race pads I've used (Hawk DTCs, PFs, Project Mu) always stopped well enough when street driven to/from the track. They just eat up the rotors when cold. hehe..

I don't...yet. My Hawk HP+ pads are perfectly fine on the street and for autox, then they work like a charm on the road course even with my very fast build. I do plan to go with dedicated track pads in the future, though, and maybe a better pad for street/auto-x as well. However, Hawk HP+ pads definitely get'r'done for now.
