First Race Prep

The title isn't completely true, this isn't my first race, but its my first in a while and first with the Evo in almost 2 years.
Early last year I ran in teh Blue Ridge Region SCCA. I was using these as preps for DC SCCA. But I ended up moving to CT in March, then got activated with the Marines, engine blew up, went to Iraq, had car stuff stolen, got back from Iraq, TB let go on dyno, rebuilt engine, moved back to CT and well here I am.

You catch your breath yet?

So I finally got the car done thanks to Peter and Brad Brooks at Iinfinte Speed and Performance in Maryland. I didn't have time to get the car tuned when I picked it up so she's running low on hp and running very rich....rich is safe.

There were a host of goodies thrown at the car when I was in Iraq to go along with what else was done. The car is putting down around 310whp right now on 20psi. I figure she should do around 360 if not more when she is tuned.

The big thing though is I had coilovers put in. Jarrod at Buschur Racing really helped me out and gave me a great deal on the Apexi N1 coilovers among many other parts. Thanks Jarrod!!!

When I was in Iraq, my Websport wheels and Kumho v710s were stolen from my storage unit. Uhaul's insurance f@cked me over, but Progressive came through. Knowing I wanted to go faster (Shake and Bake!!), I orderd up some Enkei Nt03 and Kumho v710 (285/30/18). In order to fit the tires I had to roll the fenders. That was done today along with getting the suspension set up.

I already had the car aligned with specs I gathered from other Evo auto-xers. But my suspesnsion was set too low. So along with rolling the fenders I raised the car up a little today. Enough to clear the tires so they don't rub. After I measured everything and made sure everything was good, I put the new race tires and wheels on and took it for a test drive just to make sure nothing rubbed.

Here are pics. The auto-x is Sunday with CART. I'll be in SM class, hopefully not too far behind the STi's.

Tire width comparo. The picture doesnt' do this justice, the race tires are monstrous compared to the street tires. Streets are 235s

Followin' right down the path of known success!

Which region will you be running in now? WDCR again? If so, you'll get to have fun with the current top SM car, which is an Evo (Rich J.).

I didn't know Rich was racing his Evo, I thought he was still using his Camaro.

Right now I'm up in CT. I will start DC hopefully next year

Yeah, Rich has been using the Camaro on track, and the Evo for auto-x. He has just about the same setup I do with Ohlins and 285/30-18 V710s, except he setup his own Ohlins, and I just bought mine pre-configured by Paul G.
