Tuner Shootout Results?
Awesome event and great track. First time at Spring Mountain and won't be the last. Learned a lot from the DE sessions and can't wait to come back. Thanks to Mynes Performance for all of the track support they provided me. I could have never made this trip without them. It was an impressive first showing for Mynes Performance and this young team.
I'd only expect them to get even faster.
Thanks to all for a great event.
Thanks to all for a great event.
I want to give credit where credit is due. I have no doubt that you are totaly capable of beating my best time of 3:05 in Mod or my 3:09 in street class. That was my winning times but you and I both know that we can both go a lot faster than that. You have a great car that is well prepped and you are a fantastic driver with lots of track time here at Spring Mountain. You have consistently raised the bar and set the standard that I have been trying to beat. I am definitely bringing my best game to you and I was really disapointed in your unfortunate mechanical problem that took you out of the event. Between ruined brakes, head gasket failure, and a broken axle, I have been bit by the gremlins as well in my previous 3 races. Last Sunday's race day was the first time in 4 months that my car ran perfectly all day and took the beating I dished out.
Also, thanks again for doing a ride along with me on Sat morning practice to help sort out the 3.5 miles of endless turns. I wish I could blame you for my axle breaking but I outweigh you 2:1 and it did brake on my side after all. (Note: Nils was with me in my car when my axle broke, is he known for practicing voodoo?
)The great guys at HarmanMotive in Torrance brought me out an axle (after getting stuck in the mud somewhere in the Nevada desert at 2am...
) so I was able to compete Sunday. Unfortunately, I only had about 10 hot laps under my belt at the start of the race which is definitely not enough to learn this track 100%. In each of my race sessions, my times were dropping by 4-6 seconds. I have no doubt that I could have gotten well under 3:00 in mod and close to 3:00 with street tires if I had another 15-20 laps of track familiararity. I know that you can go well under 3:00 with a mod setup too, do you know from your previous days here what times you can do? For the record, I was only able to record 2 race laps total in street class and 6 race laps total in mod due to my choice of running both classes and not enough time to do tire swaps between run groups. (going off at the end of the middle straight on my 3rd lap in street didnt help either...)Anyway, I was pointed to this site for event results and updates when I saw that Nils posts here. I actually joined this site just to write this post and give my condolences for Nils unfortunate mechanical failure. I know he will get it going again and he will surely be setting the bar once more. I look forward to competing with him again and hope to beat him fair and square on the track someday when we both have our game on 100%, winning due to others misfortune or thru protests just doesnt give the same satisfaction.
I also want to say thanks to HarmanMotive for their endless help, the promoters of this event Charles and Aaron, Spring Mountain itself, all the other competitors, and all the crazy cornerworkers who stand a lot closer to the track than I ever would.......

. Hopefully with the changes to the car we can be a little closer in lap times.
