Ha - ya they do. Great on the track but for dragging/autox there do not like that much. Im planning (if the funds are there) to get some deticated track tires next season - and to run full autox season + as many track days I can get out to.

thats a great idea, I'm going to use the single pass side version for an autox this weekend.

This is ment for tracking/dragging/autox the danger for racing is presumed. And how would this affect the car in those situations? This is not like using a harness without a rollover bar. The seat belt still works as OE.

 

nice job functional and creative...like sum other people said i might paint it black or put some kind of tubing over it. def give ya props tho!

Just to throw in 2 cents... on the X you can't get to the center child bolt without modifying the deck, it is under the deck!

What I did this weekend was I took the dome light out and mounted the camera upside down to a piece of plastic (going to be metal this week) mounted to the two screws that normally hold the dome light in. I'll post a vid when I get done processing it.

If you can drop it down a few more inches you could see more with it.

Its also why I used both seats for the mount. It helps stabilize the camera.

 

Reviving an old thread to share my experiences after following your instructions Smike.

Basically I followed your exact instructions, however I used 5" bolts going through the seat's harness hole rather than 6", so they don't stick out further than the rest of the mount. I had to use a bunch of washers to be able to get it secured tightly, as the bolts I had were only threaded for the last 1¼ inches or so.

The view with my GoPro is perfect. Obviously it's very dark in my garage, so the quality of this pic is bad, but it's just to show the field of view:

why would you ever do this..? you drive a 30k Evo (well with depreciation it's about 25k or so)...! buy a real camera mount...!
