I'm actually happy that I dug deeper into that and followed the links.
Made me see some issues that I had not seen prior as I just assumed that we all understand that what we do is dangerous. It is but still, enough stuff there to add up to a little doubt for me. Maybe not 4.5 million in doubt but still.
So this guy had multiple off track episodes that day prior to the fatal event? I know if I go off track I must come in and chill out and have my car checked over prior to going back out. Thank goodness (and knock on wood) I have yet to have an off track event but seems as if this guy spent more time in the rough than some golfers I know.
Sad that we lost two of our fellow track hounds. Sad that this will make track days harder for some to attend or put on. Sorry that Porsche will now feel as if they have to dumb down their cars with electronic nannies as the CGT is a friggen beast.

guy took a ride, crap happened, he knew the risks, porsche and all the others should countersue for their time, frustration, and lack of 100,000 sales, due to this incident.
god i hate laywers.
Why can't people own up to their own actions. Getting in a race car, signing the waiver saying "you may very well die today", knowing the risks, and having the 1 in a million chance of it happening.
geh.

Warm Pepsi
exactly, even if the guy would have been straight up, his wife saw it different.
it is disgusting to see lawyers pestering the bereaved right after an accident.
humans are at their weakest at that stage.
accident= bad stuff happens, to bad.

Just stuff like this, makes any industry cost more, as instead of trying to make your stuff better, you're spending your money, trying to plan against the eventual lawsuit, because you know it's coming.
I think it's Nike's fault that i tripped over my own feet because my shoelace came untied. I also think my 1st grade teacher that taught me to do it was not properly skilled to teach me to tie my shoe.
I think i got a case coming...
grrr.

These things don't happen because of one event, it's a chain of events take away just one and nothing bad will happen. Many people had to make mistakes for these guys to die.
Example,
"Keaton swerved to avoid it and the Porsche skidded into a concrete barrier wall, killing both men. The wall had been placed closer to the track than its original position, in order to enlarge the area behind it for use as a children’s play area during an earlier NASCAR race."

Sure, could have been less, but could have dug in and flipped 12 times too.
how do they settle that
the car was on the track for a track day...what happened to the waiver that the drivers sign releasing responsibility...track days are a risk...heck PCA RTR asked me to have a cage on my honda because i was too fast and puts me at a risk for off track excursions...not to mention to idiot who hit his brakes in front of me at the glen in the S turns and i almost rear ended him
..4 cars wrecked the same day but noone is responsible.......
i just cant stand sue happy people.........dont let me get into a rant here because thats why our healthcare is up the creek also........ nuff said

but when a guy is driving a car thats more than twice my house, they don't take input very well normally.
"My loving husband was an innocent passenger in an expensive sports car that inexplicably failed to incorporate a modern, life-saving safety feature. He was a passenger on a racetrack that was dangerously designed. While driving on racetracks always involves risks, the result of this case and the redesign of the track will help eliminate unnecessary risks and make the sport of high speed driving safer."
ah-hem ... BU77SH!T
cfd fm 1 - If ANY of the facts regarding safty were a concern, the drivers and passenger had the option at any point to discontinue the activity. I have left autocross events where other vehicles were on course at unsafe distances, and I pitted in because of an unsafe driver behind or in front of me, and have left track sessions due to unsafe conditions that were not remedied.
The driver and passenger are accountable for their decisions and actions, and both paid dearly. As you noted, three offs, would you get in the car?

Ditto. And the GT takes a LOT of skill to keep under control, just look at top gear:
