There's another front brake solution for the Evo courtesy of AMS:

I thought I'd make a couple additions to this thread.

First off, I was one of the testers on the new AMS brake kit, and I've got a few pictures of them on my car towards the end of my PPIHC build thread (link in my signature). Brakes have been great so far, and I've got over 100 miles of hard driving on them at our local dirt testing facility. Its about a 2 mile course with top speeds in the 110mph range, with numerous hairpins, dips & jumps. With lots of LFB, the brakes stoppign power has stayed consistant.

Second item is the skid plate. I was able to dig up design plans from one of the high-level build shops from overseas. It requires some welding to the bottom of the radiator support, but makes for a very easy design of the actual skid plate. There are pictures of this on my car near the bottom of my PPIHC build thread.

Hope this helps!

Dave

On a side note.... Awesome thread!! Very informative as I am one of the ones who has asked what you are running for front brakes. Talked to cascade a few times but not too sure how much I want to fork out yet. Thanks a million.

Awesome setup.. Theirs is pretty much bolt on.

Im still working on gathering funds for suspension and brake kit... i need to stop traveling though. lol

I used JDM RS version smaller brake (Same as Euro version) in Rally-X and some Auto-X. It worked very well except very high speed course on tarmac.
Most of my friend who are doing Rally in Japan have been using this brake on gravel events.

BTW, if someone want to get used JDM brake kit, please let me know. I have one set in stock, which I had used before.

For brakes, i have also heard a rumor that you can use the brakes off of an 01 or 02 eclipse v6. They are supposed to be the same size/part number as the jdm brakes. I have not been able to verify which year eclipse...

Tein and Sachs both also have a very nice set of Group N struts. They would fall into the expensive category.
