Best way to get my attention is just to use the contact form on the website:

http://zzyzxmotorsports.com/contact

Best to put as much detail in there as you can as to what you intend to use the suspension for, goals, etc.

Thanks!

Well, they are on and they rule.

First off... Steve said that my car would ride like a caddy with it's 8k front and 9k rear springs. He was very right. I thought, "this guy has no kidneys and thinks everything should be sprung like a buck board". Well, even at almost 3 times the stiffness of the stock springs I feel like I'm driving a mid 70s GM. I have guilt that the car is so damn soft! I also wish I would have went stiffer as I think I left some performance on the table but we live and learn.

I figured that if I spend money on a nice suspension and I want to most out of it I need to set it up right. To these ends I spent the last two days getting a whole mess of stuff done at DTM in suburban DC. They hold the current records for Evos at almost every track on the east coast and do a mean corner weight so thats where we went armed with Steves set up instructions.

Without seeing Steves numbers and thoughts, Nick the owner of DTM rattled off his thoughts on alignment and set for my car which were almost EXACTLY what Steve had mailed me. At this point I felt pretty happy as I love it when smart guys agree.

Aside from just putting on the coilovers we also added the Whiteline roll center and rear bump steer kits and corner weighted the car. I was hoping to get the weight within 47% or so but on the first try it was at just over 48% and with ONE adjustment it was 49.8/50.2 with my supersized hillbilly a$$ in the drivers seat!!!

I have yet to really assault any good back roads but will later today. I will also be out on the track next weekend and will be able to provide a large amount of feedback at that point. As of now however I must say that a lot of the push is gone. I would also like to say that the level of grip is much closer to what it is with good quality rubber on the car and I just have some POS 520 treadwear rated all season tires on! The car is just MUCH more predictable in its attitude and feels more under control and predictable. I like those qualities. I must say though that the feel is so sedate and I know the car is more capable and faster, it just does things so easily and may not feel as fast as the car is under perfect control.

Issues. There is a bit of noise from the rear now and then. Nick mentioned that he was afraid that I may at some point get a binding issue with the rear springs. Not sure if this is what i am hearing at times (sort of a groaning squeak) but it's rare thus far. Nick mentioned that I may want to use a helper spring in the back to help eliminate this and this is also something Steve mentioned that I may at some point want to do so thats all good.

Finish. The dampers are beautiful. They already have scratches however. the blue paint got some nicks with light contact with simple hand tools. I did not expect this and hoped that the finish would be much more durable. I know Steve said that the under finish would be bombproof so I hope that no corrosion develops but I will keep an eye on this.

Lack of independent height adjustment. This is really a minor issue in my mind as I could care less where the car sits once its dialed in. I do not need the car to be low or slammed or to have the right stance. Nick however loved everything else about the system aside from this. He loved the camber bolts and gave them extra points as he did many of the other details. He pointed out however that he wished that the whole body or bottom was threaded and the mounting collar was screwed onto the body to let him adjust aside from just using spring adjustments.

Thats it for now... hope this helps some folks. At this point I still have to say that this system is worth every penny and then some.

More to come.

Yeah. I think so too.

I agree on all your points. If you think you want stiffer springs (and you should), just buy them. It's a really quick job to swap them out. 12.5k rides great.

I'm going to learn what I have on hand first. Take them out and beat on them a bit and see how they do on back roads as well.

I'm pondering the rear helpers and a rear sway bar as well but after that all bets are off.

Oh...you are in for a treat this weekend.

Not only are they fast, but the car is going to be so easy to control.

You guys really need to quit talking about this. I'm about this: || far away from calling my credit card company and having them up my limit so I can put my order in now. I'm carrying around too much racing debt as it is...

The dampers are Koni 86xx units. ZZYZX can also build you something around the Koni 28 or Penske 8000 if you want (and are willing to pay the HUGE premium).

EDIT: for reference, I have the very first evo set.

The DFV is probably the the closest competitor to these. Both are very good options. Of course zzyzx undercut ohlins price by a thousand bucks. :-p

I do have a few pics but none of the car as it sits corner balanced. I can easily resolve this however.

I wish I had more expertise in this regard as I honestly wonder what made the car so easy for Nick to balance. He seemed STUNNED that the car was at 48% as soon as it went on the scales bassed only on his eyes and the numbers Steve provided.

I think part of it was to do with the fact that Nick does set up a lot of very fast circuit cars and partly because Steve just set these things up to be spot on out of the box. The level of detail and pride in craftsmanship is unquestioned.

I can not wait to get these things out and beat on them as the little snips I am getting seem to indicate EXACTLY what donour says in that the car will be easy to control. The car feels as good right now as it did on the RA1s before just more tidy and better mannered if that makes sense.

Once I strap on some serious rubber I have no idea what the car will be capable of but be sure that I will be telling you ALL about it.
