Race Pad Database

Hey guys, could we get together some sort of database on different pads? If there is already one out there on the internet, please link it here. Otherwise please jam as much info on a pad as you can in without being TOO subjective. DATA > OPPINION

I know you guys have a lot of experience combined and I'm tired of trying different failing pads.

Here's my initial contribution:

Project Mu LEVEL MAX 900:
Material: Carbon metal, Temp: 100~900C, Friction: 0.45~0.60mu
~$200 for fronts and $190 for rears

As you can see, not a very linear pad. It gives GREAT stopping power when it is in its heat range... unfortunately all that extra friction within its heat range generally creates more heat (especially on our heavy cars) so it probably goes outside of its heat range frequently. This will cause non-linear braking force for a given input. I have these now at the advice of Bryan and they work "well" but I overheat them and I have a hard time bedding them. I don't think that I have bedded them yet after 2 events. When I heat them abruptly I get heavy vibration which goes away when they cool. They may play nicer with someone who has better piston release... I think the Brembos (after being heated badly) don't release well enough. (oppinion)

I'm finding it hard to find data on other pads to compare performance and cost, so please chime in if you have any.

I'm especially interested in the Raybestos line.

Where would I go to have a test like that done? I just threw some new performance pads on mine and would be interested in seeing something like that.

Wilwood has Cf graphs for all their compounds: http://brakepads.wilwood.com/02-graphs/index.html
They don't make a track pad in stock Evo size, only the BP10 compound.

Then there's Pagid: http://www.braketechnology.com/techinfo.html
But they don't label the Cf axis!

And some tiny images for Ferodo: http://brakeshopper.com/ferodo_compounds.shtml

Thank you Dan! Anyone else?

LancerGTS: I don't suppose you can 'do' these tests yourself, these graphs come from the manufacturer.

Edit: Here's the Willwood BP10 from above:

Here's Wilwood's race pads (apparently not available for the EVO):

I think J and C look very promising.
