good road race turbo that nets 450-500awhp on pump?

Sorry if this is a noob question, just wondering what would be the best option for a road race/ street driven turbo (i.e. very minimal lag) on the stock block that still nets 450-500+awhp on pump? There is such a thing I hope? Evo IX BTW. Thanks!

50 trim will get you about 440-450 on pump. Or you could go HTA35R but you'll see some lag for sure.

If you want 450 dynojet HP then maybe. If you want 450 mustang HP on pump then you may be out of luck as you are only willing to accept "very minimal lag".

If you are honestly considering road racing and track days I strongly encourage you to use your car at stock or very near stock power levels to learn with as the car is far more capable than most drivers in stock form.

If one adds the sort of power you talk about you will be driving a coffin on wheels that would need THOUSANDS of dollars of supporting mods to be safe and balanced. Add to that the performance envelope of such a car with a new driver and problems are sure to follow.

In short, learn with the car as stockish first and then grow from there.

It addition some of the fastest TA evos on the earth run with turbos in the 30R range.

Good luck.

+1 to learning with the stocker....it will save yah $$ for like tires and brakes, Because You will be eatting those up.

Those fastest Time Attack Evos with 30r's have ALOT of money also put into the engine.

To actually answer the question, it varies a lot based on the manifold and such. But speaking in general turbo's proven in that range, the FP Green's have seen 450's on race gas, and with the HTA coming out it should be a wicket RR turbo. Other's like 50 trims can do it to but again depends on your configuration. Quite a few have 3065's that hit 500 all day.

I know a 50 trim on race can hit the 480 mark on a stock bottom end. A 2.3 stroker with 3076 on pump should be in the 430ish area and 500 on race.

on road racing/ autox you want a setup that will yeild you close to equal torque vrs hp output.

I'd say an ultimate setup would be a 2.3 running an HTA 3076R Twin scroll.

Why pump? If you're at the track, get a tune for 100oct and a good power curve and you'll have a safer machine with more power.

I'm pulling the parts together for that setup...

500 whp on pump gas with stock spool is a pipe dream. Lucas English made 500 whp on a stock Evo IX turbo but that was on E85 and a 10:1 compression motor.

You can have the 500 whp on pump with a GT35R, but you can have the lag to go along with it.

Agreed that the best turbo for what you want is probably some variation of a 30R

Yeah I was afraid one might not exist. But sounds like the general consensus is the 50 trim (or maybe HTA FP Green?) is pretty good for road racing, though it might not quite reach 450 on pump..? 430-450 should be ok though.
