Thats what I am gonna do, thats exactlly what I am gonna do. Damn, I should probablly buy a set of new tires for this. Are do you guys think my tires will make it no more time than I will be useing them on the track? BTW, I am currently the highest bidder on an 06 Evo MR, so watch out, lol. Hopefully I'll get it and finally have a real car to race again.

If you decide to do tires, just get a set of decent street tires, stay away from R-compound tires, b/c they tend to hide mistakes and make learning the car a bit harder IMO.

If you don't win the bid on the MR, search for a 5 speed, as the general consensus it that the 5 speed holds up to track abuse better than the 6 speed.

Humn. I am running a set of 205/45vr16 parada spec twos on aluminum rims. Should I use less capable tites? So would it be better to just use my factory tires and rims then? I already have those and they have decent tread left. I could drive down on my 16's and pull the 14's out of the trunk and do the class then put my 16's back on. A friend is gonna drive down to watch so I could just throw my tires and jack in his SUV most likely. I'm gonna lose at least 45 percent of the cars grip and handling though, but it would be harder to hold it in the road.

I think the tires you're running will be ok. I don't know anything about the spec2s but from what I remember, the first version of the pradas weren't viewed highly by the folks I used to auto-x with. I just meant that you should avoid the high dollar auto-x and track-day specific tires, like the Hoosier A6 or R6, Kumho V700, V710...etc. These race tires don't make much noise at the limit and just let go, whereas a good street tire will let you know (with squealing) before the grip disappears. I found this extra little bit of tire feedback helpful when I was starting out doing track days.

I tried my best to help explain what you need to focus more on. You were asking about the RTA, and various other things, and i tried my best to explain the differences between your different options based on my experience. Like i also said earlier, the reason why no one really responded to your thread is due to your presentation. Anytime someone posts in the Motorsports forum, as you have, about how theyre great at racing through heavy traffic on the highway, or how theyre great at dicing it up on city streets and what not, other members are not going to take it lightly. Especially in the motorsports forum, where most of us take our sickening addiction of motorsports very seriously. Beyond that, it just makes you look foolish in front of us. So dont get all hot and bothered if you get a little friendly banter because of that. Just so you know, no one really gave you a hard time. I for one wasnt really sure if you were serious. There have been plenty of trolls from the past that have started threads like yours, that eventually turned into street racing threads, and pointless rambling about street racing abilities, or about how fast they can take on-ramps, or how well they can e-brake through their neighborhoods, and more rambling, and more rambling. The motorsprots forum folks here are the furthest thing from that.

Back on topic. As far as the Redline driving clinic, i dont know anything about it because i have never done it. The guys from Redline given my experience are really great guys...Chris and Nik. Both of which post here most of the time. In fact, if you look around your thread, youll see 2 recent threads that they posted. Im sure you will learn a few things their clinic. Beyond that, as i said earlier, you have NASA's HPDE groups. You can start off in HPDE 1 and take it from there. In HPDE 1 you will get plenty of in-car and classroom instruction. It will vary from region to region, but there is a great deal to be learned. Either way, as a noob, there is a great deal to learn from many different driving clinics. Some will be better than others, but there is something to be learned from everyone.

Yea I didn't want it to turn into a street raceing thread either thats why I just said I had no track experiance but did have experiance. I don't really know how to ask something without asking it sorry. I had to throw in experiance in a way I thought I could get by with because I do understand there is a differance in the classes worth depending on who is takeing it. I just wanted to make sure I was gonna learn something I didn't already know. An 18 year old kid that thinks he knows how to drive very good most likely doesn't, but I'm not 18 ;]. Yea I didn't really want it to turn into a popcorn show thats why I never mentioned street raceing. I'm gonna take it. If I get the Evo I'm not takeing that car this trip. I'de rather learn in the fwd since thats what I been mostly driving. I hardly take my blazer out anymore since the car gets better MPG.

O' ok. I'de be more conftorable useing them anyway since I been useing them and have a good idea when I'm pushing them too hard. I never had the regular paradas but for the street I wouldn't consider running another tire. My selection is limited in 16's. I have tried to find a better tire both times I replaced them, couldn't do it. I'll evaluate the tire for you, these are good tires and I will most likely be buying a 4th set this summer.

Strengths:

[1] As long as you trail break into the corner you can do 90 in a 30mph hairpin, let off the break and ease on the gas, and if done rite on a new set it will pull you through the corner and not even squell at all usually. Excellant at cornering at least in my car. I think it turned my car into a porsch without the engine.

[2] They look pretty damn good.

[3] Really go to tire rack and read the reviews.

[4] When the tires have most of the thread on them rain isn't a problem at all. I just drive like usual. After about half wears off be more carefull.

[5] The tread wear is actually great for the amount of grip you get.

[6] In gravel they do a pretty good job too, but in a corner with a big bump trotting along at 70 mph it gets hairy sometimes. So kinda go easy in gravel.

[7] In the snow they suck drive something else.

[8] The price isn't bad, pretty cheap for what you get IMHO.

[9] I found them to work pretty good in sand and dirt, better than I would hope.

Negatives:

[1] If there is a patch of gravil on pavement and your going fast, see it and hit the breaks they will lock up and roll the gravel with them till you hit the gas. You will lose all steering till you accelerate, but I'm sure most people in here know to do that anyway.

[2] After you wear the tire down to 3/16 if there is water setting in the road it will hydroplane very easy if you go over 40. When you wear down to the belts don't even do 40 in the rain. I wore the last set all the way into the kevlar to see what they would do.

[3] Snow equals hardly any traction and steering response.

All in all the compound is good, and the tire is a great daily street tire expecially in the summer. The hotter they get the better they stick. I was grabbing thired for a chirp on the factory tires. Now I can drop it at WOT and It usually just grabs and then launches. They will hardly ever not grip unless you turn and gun it. Of course my tires are the best thing on this car. Give them a try, the silica they use now is damn good. I drive them pretty hard, I don't usually brake for corners. Like that they should last at least 30k, maybe 35k. For what you pay you get a bargain. O' and if you have your foot firmly planted on the dead petal they will let you feel when you are exceding thier limits even before the tire howls. For me this works out good since I have mostly driven rear and 4 wheel drive cars and trucks. I get uncomtorable before my tire loses adhesion. Maybe the clinic will help with that.

I don't think I'm anywhere near the best driver here, I just know I'm a better driver than most are. Most of the normal people if thats what you want to call it. O' and these tires will stop on a dime, saved my *** more than once when idiots pulled out in front of me. I was doing 45 one day and I swear this guy decides he is gonna waite till I'm rite on him then pull out. I barelly had time to hit the brakes as he came out, and I couldn't see him because of other cars in the lot, and in the opossing lane. Had I had factory tires I would of ate his rear end. So I can't say enough about these tires, they are great. Best street tire I ever owned.
