Cheap Advan AO32 tires

I was shopping a popular online auction site when I found some cheap race tires.

I searched for this:

255/40R17 Yokohama ADVAN A032R Tire 255 40 R 17 Race

$99 each

I know these tires aren't the stickiest things in the world but for a $100 per tire they should be plenty fine for HPDEs.

Aren't they discontinued?

Any vendor that still has them probably has very few. They've also been sitting on a shelf for a long time which means they'll be less grippy and wear faster than normal.

EDIT: The tirerack was recently selling hoosier AS03s for like $35/tire. Unfortunately those tires were like 5 years old. I would expect them to be a) hard as rock b) last not more than a handful of autocross runs before they grained away.

He's talking about EBAY man.... do a search.

They have 92 tires left. Even if they are a year old they will still be better than $100 street compounds.

... sorry guys but if you're looking at using them on the roadcourse (puckadog... I know you are) then you've found the wrong tire. I have a set sitting in my garage. I used them at Summit last year. If these are the soft compound like mine are then don't even bother, resell them for small profit. I'd take my dunlop street tires over them ANY day. They overheated VERY fast and gave NO warning when letting go. Most off track excursions to date. They may be great at autoX, I've no idea... but they can't come close to handling the heat on the roadcourse w/ our kind of weight and power. I've driven w/ you Puckadog... lol I know they won't work for you.

EDIT: Maybe they would be good for rains if you have a trailer and an extra set of wheels.

They are the soft compound and they are excellent for autox. Our group ordered serveral sets at a discounted price. They are very sticky even when cold. Top two SM cars as well as FTD ran these tires last weekend.

Most race tires age well when new..... once used and heat cycled multiple times they start to lose performance.

Noticed they had other sizes too. How do these compare to AO48s?

I picked up a set as well, and I drove 1000miles round trip to do VIR's full course for 2 track days, and yes they did get very hot after a few laps and grip was lost but for $99 per tire they were worth it! They are the soft compound too, and I'm still daily driving on these on the streets, about 3000 miles so far, tread is still good too. Very loud and I would not buy these again tho...they remind me of the falken azenis.
