hey guys, I wanted to know if any of you have any experience with this helmet? Its both DOT/SNELL approved. I was looking at it mainly because of looks/price. I dont want to spend over 120$ on a helmet. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I believe at least for a time LRRS banned the use of HJC's in competition. They saw what they felt as an alarmingly high amount of head injuries associated with the HJC. Don't know or have an opinion on whether they were right or wrong, just stating what I know (or am I?
)
HJC is Korean-made, and is priced/marketed at the lower end of the spectrum. I personally put their quality, fit and finish way above Bell or Simpson, but well below Shoei, Arai, or Suomy.

I'm happy with the HJC AR-11 I bought from wine country motorsports after trying on models from sparco, arai, omp, and bell. This hjc is a big step up from the last time I looked at them 9 years ago.
It's light and fits very well. The only issue is that it's difficult to raise the visor but that's been addressed in the current version of the ar-11.
As a side note, I have an arai for motorcycle riding but I didn;t want to mount HANS anchors to it.

HJC is cheap? When I was looking for a helmet, HJC was on of the more expensive manufacturers. I settled with a Pyrotech open-face which for the price is decent but does leave a bit to be desired.
the hjc-cl15 is about 112$ @ helmetcity.com & free 2nd day air shipping to the USA.

Then you were looking at lower eschelon helmets. The most expensive HJC helmet I have is 1/3 the cost of the cheapest Arai.Originally Posted by ambystom01

Tot the OP: If you're shopping for a helmet for your car, don't buy a motorcycle helmet. A lot of track day co's/org's require an "SA" rating. The difference between an "SA" and a bike helmet "MA" IIRC, is it has a fire-proof (resistent) liner. If you already have a bike helmet, then use it. If you're specifically shopping for a car helmet, buy a car helmet.

It all depends on the rating of the helmet. HJC makes helmet in the low one hundred dollar range to helmets that cost over $1000. As long as you buy an SA rated 2005 helmet you will never have an issue. The helmets that costs less than $200 are usually M rated which are good for most events but its better to just spends a little more and buy SA rated since you will be able to use it no matter where you race and what club or group you will be in.Originally Posted by asdfasdf128

and SA also specifies a multiple impact rating that is extremely important as well.Originally Posted by fastkevin
