Head & Neck Restraint Anyone?

Does anyone wear a head and neck restraint when on the track?

I'm looking at the R3: http://www.safetysolutionsracing.com/wordpress/?cat=21

(doesn't require a special harness or seat, so I can use it in other cars, even those with 3 point harnesses).

HANS user here. We've got Racetech head restraint seats and Schroth HANS specific belts.

Safety Solutions Hybrid Rage with Stilo helmet. I thought it was more comfortable than the Hans.

I have never tried any other, but the hans fits great. Once you get use to it, you don't even notice it's on. Never crash tested it and don't plan to. The one time I did crash at LRP uphill (the old school uphill with no tire wall ) my hans was sitting in my trailer and not around my neck. I was running late for grid, yeah stupid move. My neck was sore for a month after that escapade, luckily that is all that happened.

You could also look into this one. http://www.circletrack.com/safety/ct...hnr/index.html

This is what I use too. Took me a year of research to make that decision given frequency of use, cost, negatives & positives and what I would be using it for.

Please note that your car should be appropriately setup to handle a specific neck restraint. The HANS belt setup must be perfect or it will not work. A HANS may not work in a car that was setup for an R3 or other device but an R3 will work fine in a car setup for a HANS.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not a fan of the HANS devices because they require changes to my car (including putting in a harness that needs a bar or cage, which I can't have in my "need the back seat" daily driver.

After the clutch gets replaced (yes already), I'll get the pennies added up so I can get one of these.

I also hit the Lime Rock uphill hard, before the Hans was available , lucky I only bruised a rib! Check your cars continually and magna flux stub axles and related components, my E 30 M3 snapped a outer CV joint at the turn in point and slammed the rail. Took me a long time to not look at my blue paint on the guard rail!!
