Good Book to Read?

I know seat time is the most important thing, but do any of you guys have recommendations on good books to read on this subject that may help you improve in any manner? Thanks! (Track, Auto-x, handling/suspension, etc.)

Honestly I think the best way to get real first hand knowledge is for you to get out there, and ask other people what works for them and lil' of trial and error by yourself..gl!

Definitely, I have been accumulating seat time, not just trying to learn it all from books. I just thought some good books would be an excellent supplement for me to keep in mind as I'm out there and considering corners etc.,

Thanks guys! I actually bought that Secrets of Solo Racing book!
Is the Speed Secrets series focused on track, auto-x or just racing and techniques in general?

Thanks

I have the first one, it is applicable to anything, not just driving. It talks a lot how to prepare your body and mind and various exercises to do to improve your senses...

Don't know the others.

thats a great book, I've been reading and re-reading it for about a year now. very easy to understand but there is still some more techincal stuff in there you can reference when you get to that point in your driving.

great thread! I was going to ask the same question. I have 'Going Faster' by skip barber. It's pretty good, alot of detailed info. My only gripe was in the whole book they only spent one paragraph discussing the diferences of front wheel drive cars, and only one sentence on all wheel drive.

I am currently reading the Speed Secret books as a reccomendation from my long time driving coach and ex-speed GT driver Gary Bockman. I am blown away at how the book has made me feel more complete, and often refer back to them at the track.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Speed Secrets series, learned plenty. Including this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZPEK9_MtLw
...or maybe that was from Team O'Neil..

I've got Speed Secrets 2 myself.

It refers to Schumaker a lot actually. It's not too overwhelming in nature, and it's not spoon-fed either if that makes any sense. Let's just say my g/f wouldn't understand it...

Great Question :

Race to Win by Derek Delly is a good book

Going Faster

The Driver by Alex Roy. It's not about track, but trust it will cheer you up a lot

Good Thread! I just ordered The Secrets of Solo Racing & Speed Secrets, thanks to your guys suggestions.

Does anyone know about any autocross technique videos. Like how they have Drift bible for drifters, do they have anything for autocrossers/track racers. Watching someone do something seems to help a lot more then just reading, or someone telling you.

Thanks
