Best budget in-car camera?

I'm reposting this from the Evo X General section. Obviously, Smike has one option. What are some others that will pass tech at your average HPDE?

Thanks.

I just bought the GoPro Motorsports Hero Wide. When I receive it and play a little, I'll post a review. Compared to other options it is inexpensive. However, when you read the specs on it, it seems you don't get a real lot for the money(takes AA bat, 3 megapix, refresh rate, only accepts 2GB). If you are willing to buy parts separately, you may be able to get a better camera for similar money. I am willing to pay for convenience, and this puts everything in one package (except the roll bar mount is separate $30). Also it includes a weatherproof case, so if you want to do outside shots it is protected from wet/impacts.

I've also got the GoPro Hero. Here's a link to the first video I ever took with it, the camera is mounted on the roof. A little rough, but the quality is good for the price. Also, Streetfire degrades the quality a bit when they encode it.

Check out the ChaseCam.com options. I have their bullet cam and you can mount it anywhere. I used a small camera before and would get some picture shake.

The Chase cam or Bullet cam is your best bet. Costs can add up quick as you have to buy the camera and a separate storage device.

All you really need is a camcorder really; a mini-dv is fine. You can snag one for < $200 easy and get a $30 mount and you're done. If ya do, opt for one with an external mic so you can capture more than just wind noise. One thing I have noticed is my camera looks much better when it's sunny out - it's just a 1 CCD.

Here's some youtube links to some of mine:

That's what I have now, a ChaseCam bulllet cam connected to my cheap Aiptek HD video cam. The Aiptek records to SD cards, but the lens angle, sound, and mass caused some issues. The bullet cam view looks like footage from the SPEED channel, because it is the same unit.

They also just came out with some software that allows you to overlay any data.
