this probabbly a dumb question but if someone takes there evo (full coverage) to the track (e-town) and crashes, there basically screwed right? im sure insurance isnt going to cover that correct? and is there such thing as an insured track?

Basically...yes your screwed. There are insurances you can pay for that the track may offer for the day, but even then it's like a 10k deductable and it only covers damage to the track, the car itself normally isn't covered.

I've seen people post about track day insurance coverage. Not sure who it's offered through and what the details are, but it does exist to some extent.

I just saw a brand new CTS-V get work over after hitting a few walls at the last track day I went to.

If you're going to be doing it a lot, this type of insurance might be good:

You can also buy 1-3 day policies for around $200.

Here's one for HPDE's:

http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/

A bunch of people from NASA have used them so I got a policy from them for when I go to Lime Rock April 4th with NASA.

But yes, you are completely on your own otherwise.

I saw that K&K Insurance has racecar/trackday insurance. It is under the "On-track Crash Damage " section.
They just helped me with my knee surgery, good company to deal with.

Yes, I got it and the whole point is that it's just for that one day and only on the track. Came to $150 covering about $20k.
