Seems like all the winners just won by default.
Rumor mill says its because when the shove it and get stuck, (like Travis did) they are supposed to get out, and in his case, its because the fiesta was about to be tearing up that ramp. So they red flag the course immediately. For the others, looked like frustration, as tanner, block, deegan, and johnson all TRIED to finish.

I think his steering column or tie rod broke. He ended up walking down the ramp into the stadium I believe, based on pictures I've seen. That would mean broken car. If his car was fine and he was red flagged he would've at least driven back into the stadium once he got the all clear.

hats off for MSE for bringing the correct car for the event and turning it down to keep it worthwhile.

His steering did break. As soon as the front of the car when into the wall he got red flagged. He had no choice but to get out of the car.

actually broke a control arm... run was red flagged because kenny brack was headed up the hill (back into the stadium cross over to other course and back out)... wouldn't have been good...

on another note, ken block did such a charming display of not being 100% in touch with the situation when he decided that he couldn't make the jump, but that it was ok to accelerate around it... he barely miss two camera men (who had to sit down for 10+ minutes to get over the shock of what had just happened) and then drive in front of deegan (which, could have been absolutely catastophic if deegan was further ahead than he was) and over the scales, through the pit area and then back onto the course... several lives were potentially put in danger by ken's poor choice (jen horsey, two camera men, several crew teams who would have been caught out by the wreckage).... i'm glad to say that he pulled it off and nobody was hurt, but his competition license should be suspended...

it doesn't look that scary in the video footage, but having a car cut around course and in front of another cars path and though/over everything else at 45+mph is enough to scare me... especially that we were 15' away from this... just stupid.

billy, i'll send full res picture when i get home tonight... let me know if there are any other pictures of cars or people at the event that you would like.

Agreed on some kind of punishment for Ken's move. Watching it live I had trouble believing what I was seeing, the two camera men have right to be very pissed. Without even getting into he crossed directly through the other course.

Franz, any pics of the Fords engine compartment, I'm really digging the Fiesta.

Those fiestas are built to full wrc spec and cost big$$ so It makes it hard for the privateer guys to compete but that is just racing in general.

Also some of the Subi guys ( i won't mention any names) Lied flat out about approach speed to the jump to the other drivers and crew so basically the told one team the "sweet spot" speed is 56mph and that same person told another team that 53 mph was the way to go and then told another crew person that he hit it at 49 mph which turned out to be the right speed so they play pretty dirty
I know 7 mph does not sound like a lot but that could be the distance of an additional 70ft or so.

They were all offered co drivers but apparently one of the girls refused to ride with art in the evo which screwed him because he really needed that.

A side note here, Kenny brack was amoungst the slowest in practice.

I would not be surprised at all to see Ken get some sort of a wrist slap.

I would love any good pictures of Andi and MJ's cars that you have. Thanks!

Chrissi and Jen were not acting as co-drivers only as commentators. They had no stage notes with them.

Source?

Brack, the 1999 Indy 500 winner, earned the No. 1 seed during time trials Friday by touring a man-made rally course in Carson, Calif., in 57.006-seconds in his 2009 three-door Ford Fiesta. Teammate Tanner Foust, a two-time X Games medalist and 2007 X Games Rally Champion, earned the No. 2 seed at 57.396 seconds. Converted to Rally America specs, the Fiestas driven by Brack and Foust were the only cars to break into the 57-second barrier on the course’s all-asphalt portion.

i was there, and kenny was one of the fastest all weekend... albeit much tighter and less exciting line, but fast...

he might have been slower on wednesday, but the rest of the week he was top three consistantly.

the fiestas are not "full wrc spec"... they are actually a good bit less complex, not as well thought out (budget difference) and have 1/3 of the electronics... they are however top spec rallycross cars that were purpose built for that task... just so happens that x-games "rally" is really an overdone rallycross course with a bigger jump... so, they are the team that was smart enough to bring the right car for the job.

as far as not giving any privateers a chance.... when did privateers have a chance? it has been vermont, syms and "race and rally"... and i don't think any of those teams are privateers... or they don't have the privateer budget that the privateers that i know have.... and in my mind that makes them teams with the largest budgets...

and lastly, ever consider that "the unmentionable subi" might have miscalibrated data on an ecu that has less than ideal logging capabilities for motorsport? probably not... you were too busy upset that your friends didn't make it to the end... well, it was less than spectacular for a lot of us... but for more of us, this year had the same results as the others... so i see no difference, too fast or too slow over the jump didn't give the results, the competition did...

so now i will hold out the mic and drop it...
