I have a GoPro and hate it. The microphone doesn't pick up much of anything and mounting it anywhere other than externally with the suction cup mounts results in video that's practically unviewable.

well not a version 2 of the contourHD but a step in the right direction.

ContourHD1080p

1. ContourHD1080p has five video settings instead of two:

Full HD - 1080p (1920x1080) at 30fps
Tall HD - 960p (1280x960) at 30fps
Action HD - 720p (1280x720) at 60fps
Contour HD - 720p (1280x720) at 30fps
Fast SD - WVGA (848x480) at 60fps

2. You can configure Contrast, Exposure, Metering, and Microphone Gain for the ContourHD1080p from within the Easy Edit software.

Still no external mic but I am sure that will come in version 2.

What I really want is Full HD - 1080p (1920x1080) at 60i I would rather have this then an external mic in version 2.

No talk on the new v2 contourHD???

Well how about the new GoPro HD...

* 1080P 1980×1080 30 fps @12 Mbps
* 960P 1280×960, 30 fps @ 10 Mbps
* 720P 1280×720, 30 fps @ 7.5 Mbps
* 720P 1280×720, 60 fps @ 15 Mbps

After watching this I am definitely getting back into SCCA Formula car racing. Never should have sold my F-car.

I already have GoPro, and Im buying GoPro HD as well once it comes out. My brother found a group buy on another forum, that has it for $220 shipped.

Once I get it, I will mount both GoPros on my rollbar, side by side, and I will shoot some videos. Will post it once Im done.

Pretty crazy both companies are launching 1080P HD within the next few weeks.

I think I'll grab the Contour HD 1080P around Christmas time. The 1080P resolution is a nice improvement. I like the the form factor better on the Contour HD, it will work better skiing and biking clipped to the goggles.

Wish I would have waited for the HD GOPRO. Ah well....

Tell me this thing isn't rugged! Check out my spin reel from this past weekend at VIR.

Is it the lack of sunlight that makes interior footage that bad? Ironically GoPro used an Evo X to do their testing

Woah. Which turn did you go off when the camera was underneath?

Do you know why you spun at turn5-5a? I'm not being a dick just curious, because RWD cars are known to spin there.

5,5a is where I spun for both videos. No problem with you asking, I spun there because I was running street tires in the rear and R888s up front. My rears corded so I threw some streets on. The car drove like a RWD car. Now the places where I used to flick the wheel in to get a bit of oversteer can start a mean spin. I nailed it several times very well, but as the name of this video states, it's my spin reel and shows where I screwed it up. lol, spinning center track at oak tree was much scarier.

I like RWD.

dispite the fact there was a tire wall not too far away you looked very relaxed in that last spin.

They don't require you to wear long sleeve shirts while on track? Do you have your air bag disabled? I have seen some people get tore up by the air bags. Every track day I have went to requires long sleeve shirts. Nice video btw!

Gotcha. Shows how much we have come to depend on AWD. I would be a mess with a RWD car on the track. My instructor at the last VIR event was a little scared at how aggressive I was going through 5-5a because he was used to having to tip-toe through there in a RWD car.

Last time I did VIR in August it was extremely hot and humid so they allowed short sleeved shirts. Although it's more comfortable I don't agree with the double standard on safety. They make you wear long sleeved shirts for fire safety but when it's hot they don't care if you get burned?

Yeah, I know everyone there so I could basically get away with running in shorts if I really wanted to I think. (Not that I would). VIR is usually a stickler on long sleeves. Personally I don't see the point. A cotton shirt is def. not going to save me from a fire and I don't have any hot fluids in my cockpit any more.

Yeah, I've scared my share of instructors. lol, guess that's why they give me the crazy students now - I deserve it. I most definitely have a lot to learn about RWDriving because I have grown accustomed to the AWD too. Ah well, I'll relearn corner by corner. That's the fun part anyway.

Edit - yeah, air bag is gone.

I was just gifted a GoPro Motorsports Wide by a friend of mine. If I end up doing some rallyx over the winter I'll do a review of it. Else I'll have to wait until next season
