Redline Time Atack
Yeah, it would take ALOT for us to go back to E Town. Most notably the numerous safety issues. The location is fantastic. So close to NYC, Philly, etc...
We're looking at holding an RTA at NJMP, on their Lightning circuit next year. It would be a bit of a longer drive for guys coming from NYC, Boston, CT, NH, etc... But the track is top notch, safe, smooth, etc....

oh yes! the Glen kicks ***! my all time favorite track on the east coast, hands down! extremely well maintained, smooth surface. extremely fast, flowing course, and VERY good to spectate at. the only downside would be the $$$ required to rent it compared to some other tracks..... so, i vote a solid 'lets do it!'
the 'big dogs' would turn some very fast laps (i'd guess sub 2 minutes) and would see speeds in excess of 160+ mph at the Glen! for those of you who are not familiar with Watkins Glen, here is a quick vid of me testing/tuning my honda civic during a PCA event (this was the Instructor/Racer group):

(that was in my NASA race honda civic; about 260 whp on low boost).
i had a fantastic time at E-town; whit drove the Fortune-Auto EVO extremely well, and we were very happy with our final setup for sunday afternoon! can't wait for next year's events!!!

Woo Hoo! my car actually made it in a picture! I knew pitting near CBRD would pay off somehow.
gobigny, nice video and nice to meet you this weekend!

That being said, at VIR there were about 8 WRXs and STis, and I was the only Evo
Maybe the majority of Evos are show cars after all.
I may not speak for everyone when I say this, but that really is a bad track for an event like this. The location however is perfect to reel in people from a lot of different states. I think last year they had an event on the patriot course at VIR and I heard it was great. Coincidently I was on the main course at VIR this weekend and spent nearly two hours hitting over 130mph on the straights and flying uphill through the esses at over 100mph in my very lightly modded evo. To me that was a **** load more rewarding than this event could have been. If the next redline event were to be at a track like NJMP, Pocono, Summit Point, or Limerock I'm sure you'll see a lot more road racing Evos out there.

Either way, it was nice watching some of the fast guys rip around the track. It was also nice to meet the guys from CRBD; I had a long conversation with Chad about random racing stuff, nice people.
I took a few pics too:

I've done two RTAs at VIR and two at Summit Point (Shenandoah). Those tracks are a lot of fun. From the videos, E-town looks like an oversized autocross with no elevation changes -- more like an in-field road course almost. I think Redline has done a couple events at NJMP but they are always a sideshow to the main event. That was also the case at VIR when I was there (it was part of a larger event). I'd like to see RTA go back to VIR or Summit Main, but I'm not holding my breath.
the track was pretty bad...
if you were out there to just "have fun" it was ok... if you were in the mentality to go quick, and make sure your car is doing what it should, it sucked lol,
i have discussed this with Nick multiple times... I hate these small tracks.... I think we should run the big summit point course.... the glen (even if its the short course) etc...
we will be doing our own track rental more this fall, and in the spring.... I bet we could get a huge turnout of just evos in general!

I'll post a thread up soon.
