if you have afr, egt not neccessary. I had egt but by the time you notice its high its probably too late.

I would say oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, boost, afr. make sure the warning buzzer is clearly audible and any lights are front and center.

Water temp, Oil temp, Oil Pressure, Boost, and a good AFR/EGT gauge

The true ones should be Oil Temp and Water Temp, as those are the ones that'll take you out...

280 is quite high as a normal temp is about 212 and 300+ is dangerous;y high. What viscosity oil are you using? Maybe you should change from either a higher or lower weight oil, depending on what your using now...

As stated, it really depends on what oil you are using and how often you are changing it. If you're using Mobil 1 and/or changing every 3k miles with that - then you've got a problem awaiting you. If you've stepped up to much more frequent change intervals and to a better quaility track-worthy oil like AMSOIL then you should be ok. It goes without saying you better have a safe tune too!

fwiw; I see 255-270 degrees in my car. I run AMSOIL 10w30 'dominator'. I've done a few oil analysis reports and the engine is really immaculate.
