Which Rear Wing: 60" or 67" wide ??

As I develop my track car for road racing, gain more power
and more grip, I'm seeing I'm lacking in rear downforce and
the stock oem rear wing is beginning to feel inadequate.

I'm considering an aftermarket carbon fiber rear wing.
Since many of you already have these on your cars,
I was wondering which are the better performing rear wings?

Is the 60" or 67" width better and why?
Is there a recommended riser height?

Thanks

get a apr gtc-300 or something similar. you want it mounted right along the roofline, but it all depends on your sanctioning body's rules for building the car.

I'm told the larger wings will actually create more drag on the straights.
Is there a wing width size trade-off?

The bigger wing can make more down force but drag goes up with the square of the downforce. Increasing wing span mitigates this somewhat, but generally more downforce=more drag.

But for a given amount of wing down force, a larger span wing will generally make less drag. But it will weigh more, so there's another trade.

mike@Kognition has a airfoil that he bought off a Formula one team, he then adapted it to to our humble little track cars.
It is actually the wing that JC Meynet is running.

- other rules that apply... the closer to the roofline the better (actually with a single element you want .70-1.0 of the cord length, a non-stalled diffuser, and that will give you the best downforce.)
-mounting points to the chassis are substantially better then the trunklid.

It really depends on how much force you can create up front. You need to be able to balance the rear wing - otherwise you push down the back at the cost of raising the front.

i beleive the 67 requires widebody fenders? correct me if i'm wrong. and the wings are never allowed to be outside the width of the car.

I'd go with the Aeromotions R2 Static. Cool company, made in the USA, adjustable. They have an EVO model. Roughly $1700.

I'm thinking to get the APR GTC300 61" wing.

How would you mount the wing to the chasiss?
Would the same oem mounting holes be used
and just extra supports underneath?

I've been emailing the guys at Aeromotions, their EVO VIII fixed wing is 65" wide with a 10.2" cord, mounts can be 10" or 12" tall. This is what I would do.
