Very impressive indeed, based on the posted times the Evo's had an awesome outing this weekend on basically every AWD category.

I'll just point out one thing, the National Champ for the Street AWD class was just slightly underpowered, roughly in the order of 300whp. Amazing what can be achieved with tons of determination and a well balanced car.

Wow, you sure 300hp?? My 08' Subie has 320 with just a couple bolt ons and stock turbo.. It moves around good on the track but hardly time attack material... Even in street class..

I'm pretty sure, I'm friends with Tony W (the owner of the car) and the Turnin Concepts guys (very humble group of people).

There is really not much that can be extracted from a 3071R (compared to an HTA86 that is). They went to the event with about 360whp as they are trying to conserve the engine for their upcoming 25hr of Thunderhill race.

I spoke with the TIC guys and they are really stand-up great guys...! from what they were saying they do only make about 360whp out of their subie...

James' car on the other hand is a BEAST...! and truly shows what can come out of street class with the "all business" mods...

Ok i guess 360 would make more sense.. Im on stock turbo at 320 and not even pushing it so i am sure a 3071 can make alot more power than a stock turbo.. The Subie is pretty well balanced and in most cases can move with the Evos with less power from what i am told..

Jeremy's car is definitely making some power!

360whp sounds about right for a 3071. I'm surprised they're using that small of a turbo. The Stoptech car has a 3076. Don't know what Dr. Russ Warr had under the hood of his car, but I'd guess a GT35. I didn't think anyone with a STI went smaller than a GT35!

I truly hope the new owners/partners of Redline Time Attack take it to the next level...It's sad to see Drift get more attention! The new owners need to market the series better and get the events much more exposure / hype on all the various car sites, social networks, etc...It's way to hard to find info and the tracks in So Cal are way out of the way. The California Speedway worked out great, as it's close to so many people in So Cal. The trek out to Button Willow and Willow Springs is a nightmare, but worth it.

I really hope next year is bigger, better and that the series is truly marketed. Fans need to be able to watch via web-cast, TV on Speed and get live updates on their cells, etc.

See you at the next one,

Billy
The AMS guys did do a hell of a job putting the car back together it the short time between the events (there was considerable fabrication needed), also special thanks to Chris Rado for the full use of his awesome shop. It would not have happened without his selfless hospitality.

That NSX is something to watch, it really looks sorted (and well driven ). It's cool how two totally different cars on paper end up just a tenth apart in the end.

Best,
Paul

And thats not including what the can muster from the east coast...

From what Jackson Stewart (new VP) said, expect BIG changes for next year... With the new ownership , Nik was hired to work full-time on the RTA series, instead of the recent part-time gig that the series was ran on....

It looks promising but who knows how it will unfold... I'll be there...
Sounds like a step in a better direction. Because in all seriousness, 4 time attacks in 1 year is not much of a series. They need to shoot for at least 10 time attacks, and i mean in Socal, not nationwide. This is good for motorsports because it gets more people involved. Those people who start off in time attack/time trial type events will eventually progress into racing, just like i did. It will happen sooner or later, because driving around competing for fastest lap will become boring real quick. Last i recall, at these time attacks you get 2 sessions, and its only 3 hot laps? Thats nothing. Its also going to depend on how many events youre doing. If you do a lot of those events you may get bored of it sooner. I suppose i got bored pretty quickly because i did 14 Regional TT events last year, plus 3 days at Nationals. And we have (4) 20 min sessions a day. People may not use all that track time, but at least its available. Thats a lot of driving around competing for fastest lap. Its definitely fun to do it on the side every now and then with friends, but once you taste the thrill of racing youre going to be hooked for life.

Congrats to Reese and TIC guys, I wanted to see how TIC would stack up on the west coast, they were just hauling *** on the east coast

10 time attacks just in SoCal is only going to over-saturate the market and ruin the attendance. Also, alientating the rest of the country when you've already started growing into the other part of the country is not the way to grow a business. And if you mean 10 time attacks in socal plus the rest of the country, unless they are going regional like NASA, SCCA etc. that's not going to work either unless the budget huge or they are going regional. Though that should be the direction they are looking for. But to do so would mean a step back because all the top cars would not end up at all the events. The strength of time attack is the high level competition, if they lose that, might as well become another NASA, which isn't bad, but isn't unique either.

That car has a stock engine and a GT30 turbo. Great job to everyone out there!

oh yeah!...free t shirt. I think I was also the only non-shop car to make any podium finishes this year in street awd on the west coast.

Chad, let me know when that new bbk turbo comes out. I think I need some more power to keep up with all the street class cars next year and your turbo looks promising.
