Mod as in trim it correct? I'd rather keep the stock undertray than buy an aftermarket one.....at least for now.

Well.... some will hate me for this but when I had my 03 EVO I ran the stock FMIC for lapping days and the hot side was never more than warm and the cold side was always cool.

I suspect it depends on what turbo and boost level you are running as well as the average speed at the track you run.

For my 9 I picked up a 3" ETS FMIC just to clean up the front of the car a bit... basically an appearance mod. I've tracked in 90* weather and the FMIC never felt hot. Think about it the car is running an average of 80+ mph for nearly the entire lap. Plenty of air flow to take the heat away.

For 99% of the people out there that insist on an upgrade .... I think ETS is the way to go. Their prices are about half of what the others charge and they are a US company (yes I drive a Jap car but still).
