New Turbo, injectors and cams

I just installed some new parts into my Evo and was wondering where I can let this baby purr because obviously im not going to street race the thing and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions....I have heard of some Evo clubs around where I live that do some track days and events like Red Line Time Attack but I have no idea which one is better. Any advice would be great!

Well I say you start off a little slow with some behind the wheel stuff with some professionals so that you get better at controlling the vehicle. Red Line would actually be a pretty good choice, they have some amateur events that would be good to start with as well. Just search around and you should find some events near you and classes that will help you out.

If youre looking for something that is more structured with classroom instruction, id highly recommend NASA:

- NASA: Main page

- BRP event: Our next event

You will start off in HPDE 1. Driver education is paramount. Most new comers dont have the capacity to understand the value of driver education. I say that because most new comers just want to get out there and mess around. But somewhere down the line they regret not taking advantage the instruction that is available for them.

After a few events with NASA then id say go run with the other local organizations. I say that because the other organizations are more laid back, where NASA is more structured around download meetings that are coupled with classroom instruction. Laid back organizations that ive run with include:

- Speed Ventures
- OTR

The websites Bueller listed are track based events. Check out the events in your region for NASA and get familiarized with the car and learn the proper lines at one of their events. As mentioned above, make sure you take advantage of the coaching/instruction available when starting in HPDE 1. Take your time progressing through the different HPDE levels. You can never get too much of the basics.

I would recommend starting with auto-x first. So look up your local SCCA chapter. After one or two of those, hop on over to a road course. NASA does have a very structured style that is good for beginners. After a few of those, well, i prefer to run Speedventures myself. Speedventures will also hold an 'auto-x' sometimes where you get TONS of runs. Look up their schedule.

I recommend auto-x first as it's lower speed, and less car prep is required.
