Autocross Tires

For the past 2 seasons I have been campaigning a Lotus Elise in the Alberta Autocross series using Kumho V710 which are excellent tires. The Elise however as you know doesn't weigh very much compared to EVO X which is a tank at 3600lb. My concern due to the weight is that the V710 will disappear very quickly.

Has anybody run the V710 on and EVO and if so what was the ware rate like?

i've had 710s on my STi for autocross and they work great, nice and sticky. if you race a lot you'll go through 2 sets a year. if you spray them down with water after each race to keep them cool they will last longer and work better. do not use 710s for the track tho, they'll over heat in 1 lap.

How many events do you run per year? From my experience you will heat cycle and age them out before you wear them out. South of the border there seems to be more events to attend and more on concrete which will rip them up quickly. Our local tracks are asphalt and I don't attend events at Boundary Bay (concrete).

You should change the title, by the second page people are just going to post their opinion of a good autocross tire and then leave, and eventually the thread will get closed or merged... just my .02, never used the v710 lol sorry

I regularly get about 100-120 runs out of my V710's before the performance drops off. If I am good with the tires I can get a full season before you get that v710 drop in performance. I run a 275/40/17 with subjective amounts of rubbing

+1. I still have some meat on my 710's after about 15 AX events, but they don't seem as crisp as they used to be at all (I think they started falling off after about event 11-12). I recently switched back to running my RE-01rs and they felt better than the worn 710's (except braking).

Anyway, yeah. I think they will fall off in grip before you start cording them unless you are in a region that runs on some really big, wide open courses (air fields, road courses etc).

Thanks guys.

We have about 20+ events within 100 miles radius from here. I plan to do about 15 so I am hopping that 1 set of V710 will last, the season. Your dead right about the V710 on the track, gone in one lap.
