rally and local economy.

Some people never understand why is after F1 is the biggest car race is the rally. Even in small scale /compare to the world/ in here some towns are start recognizing why is a big deal to have a rally race in town.
I hope this will be get out soon else where too , and will not being purposely hold back against other races...

example:

"WALTON _ Rally New York has injected some much-needed business into Walton's economy following a quiet winter and early spring, area business owners said Friday.

"I love them. They are financially bailing me out from a very thin winter," Walton Inn owner Dorrie Buttel said. "They booked the whole motel and the main house. It has helped, helped, helped my business."

"We are really excited," Hitt said. "Things are slow this time of year, and this is a great opportunity to boost things up. When the local people see things hopping it brings them out."

Until electric/alternative race cars are designed it will be hard to promote street rally races. Future professional race events will feature endurance fuel efficiency racing which is exactly what the world needs to accelerate engineering.

? im lost here in this respond. Besides some rally cars already running as a hybrid . So as some on alternative fuel. E85 and biodiesel is an old story in EU in rally ...
So i dont really know what you are try to implant here. Like the F1 - Indy - Baja - dakar- australian V8's - La mans- or the Nascar - drag cars etc , popular because they promote fuel efficiency?

Fuel efficiency races are also old story , but really no one cares...
example:

i think the fuel efficiency race are a dead end in racing. Racing is not really about fuel efficiency , and wont matter its oil or hydrogen or even sunlight...
Or i do miss understand you.

I might be mistaken, but I thought fuel economy plays a big part of endurance racing. Not to mention F1 and soon GT3 are using KERS systems which I'm positive we'll start seeing similar systems in production cars. Exo XI and the new Porsche AWD hybred systems are good examples. You'll never see a racing series based on economy though, it'd be as exciting as watching a bunch of Prius's commuting to work.

that is what im saying about the rally. There is hybrids and alternative fueled cars running it already. But still it is far a way from who can do "A" to "B" cheaper
So its nothing to do with go green mentality. Rally is based on production cars , fact , some classes are production cars + safety equipments.
Fuel economy plays a big part in ANY races , but that is a different fuel economy what we talking about here. Apples and oranges.

So as long as cars running on the street the Rally is the sport could survive vs the non production car based races. So that is why i do not get this part

"Until electric/alternative race cars are designed it will be hard to promote street rally races"

I know the local economy here at black river stages is positively affected. The main town it runs in gets more business from the weekend of BRS than they do for weeks in the spring and fall. The business owners all love it, the only people complaining are residents on the back roads and even most of them are positive. Most of the roads used here are mostly camps not permanent residences and the camp owners actually schedule their "get the camp ready for winter" weekend to match the rally so every camp has 10-30 people sitting out front of it drinking beer and enjoying the show. Since most rallies happen out in the sticks the small towns can use all the help they can get in this economy. Heres to more rallies!
