EvolutionDynamics/Robispec 463 TTS Evo @ Hallett

This thread has been a loooong time coming. As most of you on here know, i've been slowly building the car for years, trying to get her light, safe, and fast, which is always damned expensive and time consuming. I could not have come close without the help of my sponsors and friends here and elsewhere. But more on that later.
In the weeks before this weekend, she was at EvolutionDynamics getting some work done by KevinD and crew. We swapped intake manifolds (oem w/ 1 inch port job), removed all evap/emissions crap, put in an intake gasket spacer, swapped intakes to a Perrin unit, installed FIC 1050's, removed 60lbs worth of misc weight and electronics (SRS etc) beyond what I had been able to remove, swapped in an ebay o2 complete with safety wiring all the bolts, then a PPI ported exhaust manifold, and dyno tuned it on e85. Due to my oem BOV we couldn't boost past 27.1 PSI so she made a safe 320/331 in AWD Tuning's low reading mustang Dyno. Final weight at that time came out to 3000 without driver. I figured for my beer gutted ****, suit, cool shirt gear, etc, she'd be 3200 easy, So with everything i'm on the low side at a 9.23 TTS.
I drove the car back from Dallas (300 miles) and took the week to get mine and my friends 95 civic ready (flids and zip ties for mine, tons of suspension and brake work on his). It was his first DE ever so I wanted to make sure he had little to worry about besides having fun. We both leave friday night and get there around 7pm to find the camp FULL tilt with all the AI/CMC guys. We managed to find a flat spot of grass (pits were sold out 6 months beforehand) and setup the car tents, unload the cars, and leave the rest inside the trunk or trucks. Then walk around and meet everyone. With their Keg-o-rator pouring nicely it was like being at a Nascar race without the low IQ level lol. Got to meet the series directors and they agreed to find me a check ride in the morning so I could "stop f*n around and run TT already," I don't think I could have said it better myself lol. This would be my 2nd time ever at this track and 1st time with the new setup.
Saturday morning rolls around and it's damp and cool. I already have my 20+ heat cycle R1's mounted so I figure it should be fine. After one lap on the check ride I'm drifting in almost every corner and had to bring it down to 4/10th's. Great, I thought, all this time and you sux0r lol. Regardless I was verbally critiquing myself in the car while he kept quiet and I got signed off. 2nd official session I put the 50+ heat cycle NT01's on and finally find grip. That session I managed a 1:29.8 which was, as Boom said, enough for first place
. Anything under 30's is moving at this track they said. At that point most of the regular TTS guys were running TTA, so it was only me and a 400hp 300zx. I had him by about 3 seconds. My first trophy ever, I was high as a kite. That evening we had lots of sh*t talking, tons of bbq, and beer for everyone. It was the unofficial Colorado Vs. Texas cookoff. Great times. Most of the weekend I wasn't 100% focused because I was busy checking my friends tire pressures, and guiding him through the rigours of finding the line, the limit, apex's, all the usual stuff.Sunday rolls around and I notice one of the guys moved back to TTS. A VERY well prepped mid 80's 911 Turbo that has more 0's in it then I've made in my career likely. I've been around and drove Porsche's my whole life so I was very much aware of what it could do. I missed the first session due to a CEL I found out was only an emissions thing, but the Porsche managed a 1:25.6 that session. I was like...fawk. I go out, fresh ice in cool shirt, right attitude and bring myself down to a 1:28.9 on the 2nd lap. Tires overheating, water temp coming out of the block a good 230 deg, and my cool shirt pumping hot water into my chest. It was around 96 deg and 113% humidity. BTW I run a full cage, SFI 5 fire suit, carbonx full length, hoodie, hans, 6 point, the works. One of the few in TT unfortunally it seems. But it was good enough for 2nd; another trophy, w00t!! Texas has about half a dozen national winning cars, and even more national winning drivers, so I have my work cut out for me

In conclusion, I brought home my first win, nothing on the car broke except for cosmetics and my oil temp gauge is flaking out on me. Overall a badass weekend. I'd like to first thank Robert Fuller from Robispec, he's been with me since I started the project and his suspension has gone through hell and back and is still able to lay down winning times. Great guy and awesome friend. Secondly I'd like to thank Kevin and the team at Evolution Dynamics - he worked till 6:30am the sunday before to make sure I was done and ready for the track and has always answered my texts or calls with any questions I've had. And he knows what an Evo takes to Road race, because he and his whole staff does it themselves. Third I'd like to thank Andy for the AMSOIL which likely helped keep things intact, though I don't know what the temps were (
). Lastly I'd like to thank my friends and family for all their support, and ya'll here for the years of input and general bullsh*ting we do to keep each other up and running while supporting
. Look for many more victores from another Evo chassis

And I just told you want my NASA director told me this last Saturday after I was unhappy with my time:
'A win is a win and a lap record is a lap record'.

it has been a pleasure to be able to supply your oil and very proud that AMSOIL is being ran in many high perofrmance evo's here that are making sick power and that get the bananas driven out of them.
we are looking foward to work with you this comming season.

Congrats Matt.
I wish I could have made up there to race or atleast watch you race. Sounds like the car is doing great. Are you going to make it to Eagles Canyon? I Should have my car back up and were going to start working on Kevins car to.

You guys should plan ahead so that you can be racing at Nationals in 2011. Here is what you guys need to do to make your dream come true:
Do a bunch of HPDE/TT events the next few months, then sign up for a race school program towards the end of this year, pass that program so that you guys can apply for your rookie license, start racing in 2011 and maintain a clean record so that you guys can apply for your racing license, then qualify for Nationals. In the meantime you guys can start a fund raiser for me to cover my gas money so that i can drive out to Mid-O in 2011 for Nationals. This way you guys can have your chance to race against me. Thats all you guys need to do to make your dream come true.
