It was a good run....
I'm rather confused, or something else...
After all the drama about having to sell the car, due to hard times, and the countless threads... Lets revisit some:
AMS and other sponsors putting together a donation to keep you up and running:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...highlight=nils
Polls put together by forum members to get you dontations for an engine rebuild:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...highlight=nils
And countless more...
And now, not even one year later, you just sold the car? And bought an NSX?
I'm sure I don't speak for everyone, but I bet for a lot of people... leaves quite a bad taste in our mouths.
Enjoy the new car, hope life treats you well. Farewell.

I think the question Fireball is asking is why after all that and the support of sponsors and the community did you still decide to sell? The why is key.
Just burnt out?
Was it still financial after all the support you got?

Nils didn't ask people to help rebuild his motor - they volunteered, and supported a guy. I'm sure he just is ready to be done with the EVO and move on to something else, peoples lives/plans change all the time. I think it's nothing more than that. Don't read too much into it, he's not saying "f" you guys, he's just getting a new toy.

It's more that with all the outpouring of help and support that he received in his "time of trouble", it's almost something you shouldn't be able to just let go that easily... after not even a year.
And because you can let go of it that easily, makes me feel like it wasn't that important to begin with, and maybe the support should have gone to someone who would keep it and cherish it for longer than 8 months.
Another way of looking at it... if you were going to get rid of it after 8 months, or even had a small thought of this, maybe you should have turned down the support and let it go to someone else?
Fireball - your idea is the same as wondering how someone can start dating again soon after a divorce or death or break-up. What is an "OK" time limit? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year? 3 years? NO ONE, except for the person involved in that decision, can tell someone how long is appropriate. Setting some imaginary time limit is completely arbitrary.
I bet those who helped Nils get his racing career back on track (pun intended) were not just helping some piece of machinery keep going - they were helping a good PERSON keep going with his passion. In racing, a car is just a large consumable. They eventually wear out, get crashed, or get sold for something newer, faster, better. It is the RACER who keeps going and is the constant in the equation . . .
