the weight advantage doesn't overcome the gearing advantage you gain with the 285/30/18

I have been running buddy club P1 qf rims 17x9 +35 with the 275/40/17 for years now. With the v710's I don't rub all that much, a little on the LCA. with extreme camber in the front I can rub on the lower spring perches. Running Hoosiers, the higher profile of the tire causes more rubbing, but not much more.

I need to upgrade my rims to 18" and I plan on running the 285/30/18 soon I hope.

With the 10.5" wheels, we use no spacers and +15 offset all around. (We stole these wheels from my X and forced the car to accept them.)

I will get a pic of the "roll" we did to the rear (it actually involved a big hammer and beating on it), but it won't be with the 285 a6's and rpf-1 unless you want to wait til september when we mount them back up for nationals. We decided to ensure they fit as the car has needed body work since the day it was bought, and all this will take to make look good is some smoothing work and a repaint that was already needed.

Wheels shown here are 18x9.5 +35(?) fn01r-c with 245/40, dd setup. The car looks like a sunken battleship with these wheels.
A little OT here, is that Jan ****'s old car?

I don't believe for a minute that only three people have tried to shoehorn these tires under an EVO. Come on people share your pain. I don't think there's a "perfect" fit , always gonna be some rubbin'. This is autoX specific (SM)
What did you do to make it work? Rim width , spacers, body work (no wide body's)

What more do you want? I would recommend 18x10's rather than 9.5's. My tire/wheel setup works however. IDK if you want some pictures of what I had to modify...but the options are there.

RPF1 or NT03

The Enkei's make the jump from 9.5 to 10.5. Just curious to see if any one has tried the 10.5s. I haven't heard much from the folks that are running other than Enkeis.
Weds, CCW, etc. . I'm going to make a move next week and more information can't hurt in making a decision.
Thanks to all who've posted up, I was just seeing if I could get some folks off the fence to share.

Im pretty sure the nto3 is offered in 10" widths.

Something to note: wheel design can give you more caliper clearance which means you can run wider wheels if you can clear the caliper That's why I run a 25mm spacer. The CE28Ns clear calipers much better IMO.

how many people have to repeat the same thing? the correct answers have been posted, go do what they say.

You're running SM, so install wheels/tires and cut/bend what you need to make them fit, the end.

In BSP trim we can fit 18x10's with an effective offset of +7mm (+32mm with a 25mm spacer) up front. We could probably fit a 10.5 with no troubles if we got the right offset, i just haven't done it personally. in the rear we can fit 18x10's with a +32 offset, but we run a 9.5 +34 offset for less rubbage. I'd say we have pretty extreme fender rolling to accomplish that but not too much cutting. just had to trim the seam where the rear bumper connects to the body.

Seems to me like you may want to play around with some offset and spacer combinations...

There are web calculators and iPhone apps that can help you narrow down some choices first. The RimOffset iapp is especially nice as it lets you change spacer sizes and also accepts clearance values as input (if you measure them off your car first) and then tells you how that clearance would be changed by your new rim size/offset/spacer combo.

I believe there are a couple people running 18x10.5 +15 w/ no wide fenders up front (Chris Mayfield and Hsun Chen come to mind). With enough camber and stiff springs, you won't have to worry about fender rubbing issues. I'm considering going this route, but am not completely sold on it yet.
