Inside look at Performance Friction
Mods, please move if this is the wrong place.

Pretty interesting stuff! Looks at some of the brake pad details, manufacturing process, and testing methods. And the 4-piston, 4-pad caliper... pretty trick.

My engineer/mechanic has wanted me to switch from Hawk to Performance Friction. He has liked the 83 compound for years. After my passed weekend with Hawk I am ready to switch. They sent me rear DTS 60 brake pads for my Evo 8 that I tried installing at the track. The backing plates looked identical but the pads are now much thicker and would not fit on the inside. I tried installing only the new pad on the outside and picked the best worn pad for the inside. I drove the car to false grid right before a race and found when I applied brakes the new pads backing plates tore all my outer hardware on the 2 piece rotor hat. This is unacceptable. Think twice before you buy Hawk pads for your Evo. I purchased them from Porterfield, who should know better. I may be switching to Performance Friction after resurfacing the rotors for a pad material change.
