Fixed seat recommendations

Well it's time for fixed racing seats and a harness.
The nearest places to me that have seats to try are a bit of a haul. I thought I'd ask the group about their seats and fit to help with selection.

I'm 5'10 190 lbs 33" waist. I was thinking along the lines of Sparco pro 2000 or the Racetech 4000 seats. And not sure how I'll fit. How much larger are the Sparco Evo 2 seats? What's the quality like.

Post up let me know what you like and why. Or any issues.

Thanks

What is the seat for (auto-x or DE/Time Trials)?

Is it going to be in your car permanently or will you take it out after an event?

Recaro SPG. Best seat under 1K in my opinion. I have four of them for that reason. Sparco's have always felt like they were made for fat American asses. If you are not that wide, you will move around in seats like that.

It's like a helmet, test it out before you buy it and it will be pretty easy to tell which one you should buy.

Sparco Pro2000 would fit pretty well. Sparo Evo would as well, Evo 2 is too big for you. Recaro SPG is also a great seat and will fit pretty well. Sparco has the best comfort as far as fixed back seats with Recaro right behind them. Give me a call if you want to go over some options. We sell Recaro and Sparco and keep a good bit of each in stock.

Auto X and DE. Seats will stay in the car as that's all I use it for. I do drive to some DE's so comfort is a priority. I guess that will come with a good fit.

i have recaro spg's and LOVE them. very comfy and securely fit. although im a 32" waist its almost a snug fit for me. my co-driver with 34" waist had a hard time getting into the seat, once in they are stuck haha. So see if you can try an spg out first, they are made for smaller people. the pole position are bigger and might be more suitable for you.

i've sat and raced in the sparco 2000, since we had a bottom mount, the back was straight up and fixed which sucked for long drives, the seat felt big. theres a cushion piece that put my knees high up and i had to step down to gas or brake which was a weird feeling for me. might not be the case for taller people. too much angle for me.

have u looked at the racetech 1000? they are like the spg, real comfy and secure as well.

of course this is all imo

Thanks; if they are going to stay in the car then you don't want a halo seat (too tough to DD drive around in, but a huge safety advantage if you are on a race track...)

I've had a number of Sparco seats and they have been reasonably comfortable and quality I would rate as average (the velcro under the seats seems to come loose or pull up the material below it).

IF you have to go "sight unseen" take measurements of the width of your back and butt (sitting down) and match up to the dimensions on the manufacture's site...a lot of times it's not the bottom part of the seat that causes discomfort but rather the upper part as your shoulders and arms can feel crunched if the seat has a narrow back vs. your build.

I am 6'1 with a 34 and I use Sparco Evo seats. They feel great for my size.

I am 6'1" 185lbs w/ 32" waist and I absolutely love the Status Ring. Most comfortable race seat that I have found.

So I was at Calabogie this weekend and sat in :evo, evo3, and pro2000 seats.
But no evo 2. the evo fits tight but I can see issues for extended use (like 6 hr drive to the track) the evo 3 was a little too loose for my liking.
Chime in on the evo2 please.

I race in the Pro 2000 and like it. If I were to do it over again I would consider a full halo or Kirkey full containment. Size is everything though...I'm lucky because my backside is like finely carved Peruvian granite and so have quite a bit of flexibility in seat selection. You're results may vary...
